PRESS RELEASE: BDF PROMOTIONS FOR JUNIOR OFFICERS AND NON-
COMMISSIONED OFFICERS

This serves to inform members of the general public that, acting under Section 28 of the BDF Act, 2018, read with the Defence Force (Regular Force) (Officers) Regulations and Defence Force (Other Ranks) Regulations, which prescribes that Officers of the ranks of Major and below shall be appointed by the Commander, accordingly, the Commander, BDF, has today announced a total of 2945 promotions for Officers of the ranks of Major and below. These include:
a. Officers covering the ranks of Captain and Major: 155 Officers.
b. Warrant Officers covering the ranks of Warrant Officer Class I and II: 233
Warrant Officers.
c. Non-Commissioned Officers covering the ranks of Lance Corporal to Staff
Sergeant: 2557 Soldiers.
The promotions shall take effect on 01 June 2025.
I am sure that the BDF community, families of service men and women, and the
nation at large will join the Commander, BDF, in congratulating deserving members on their promotions.

Following the stakeholder engagement held on May 9, 2025, involving the Employer and the Six Plus One Trade Unions, the Botswana Nurses Union (BONU) has officially designated its representatives for the upcoming negotiation process.

The appointed members of the negotiation team are:
Mr. Vusa Phena – Lead Negotiator
Alternative Negotiator -Oreeditse Kelebakgosi
Mr. Kenosi Mogorosi – Technical Advisor

Mandate:
In addition, Mr. Atang Thake and Mr. Kenneth Mmereki have been tasked to serve on a dedicated Subcommittee focused on Essential Service Assignments within the healthcare sector. They will represent the National Executive Committee in discussions and strategic decisions linked to the negotiation process.

The union remains dedicated to advancing the interests of its members through constructive dialogue, with emphasis on fair labour practices, collective bargaining, and the protection of essential worker rights.
Negotiations starts on the 20th May 2025 to 26th May 2025
