BoFiNet hosted a media engagement session today at the Digital Delta Data Centre (DDDC), bringing together members of the media for a first-hand look at the infrastructure shaping Botswana’s digital future.
The session was led by BoFiNet CEO Dr Geoffrey Seleka, accompanied by the BoFiNet Executive Management team, reflecting a unified leadership commitment to transparency, engagement, and national progress.
In his address, Dr Seleka reaffirmed BoFiNet’s mandate to build, own and manage Botswana’s national fibre backbone in the public interest, ensuring high-speed connectivity that supports government service delivery, economic growth, national security, and social inclusion.
He highlighted the organisation’s growth from 6,000km to over 13,700km of fibre infrastructure, now connecting major towns, economic centres, and border points, while also enabling the private sector through wholesale connectivity to deliver affordable digital services nationwide.
A key focus of the engagement was the Digital Delta Data Centre (DDDC), BoFiNet’s Tier III carrier-neutral facility, which continues to anchor Botswana’s digital ecosystem. Government’s strategic migration of critical services to DDDC was emphasised as a major step toward improving system reliability, performance, and data sovereignty.
Following the session, members of the media were taken on a guided tour of the facility to experience its capabilities firsthand. In line with global best practice for secure data environments, photography inside the data centre was restricted, highlighting strong security and protection measures in place to safeguard client infrastructure and sensitive information.
As Botswana accelerates its digital transformation journey, BoFiNet remains committed to building resilient, secure, and future-ready infrastructure, quietly powering a connected, inclusive, and competitive nation.
