STUDIO TIME & BEAT LEASING

The money that you pay at the studio doesn't mean you have been granted full copyrights ownership of a song(s) which you can also be given under an agreement of a flat fee, that is; you are leasing out the beat which in most cases we never set expiry date of the lease "in Botswana" therefore it will automatically become a lifetime lease.

Secondly you pay for time (studio & production time) so that the producer/sound engineer can work on the project. e.g let me talk about Decibel Studios , we charge P1 300.00 for a single song. Even after paying this amount our rights still remain in the song(s). Unless otherwise you want to own full copyrights of the project which you are to pay a flat fee which is very costly!

WHY IS A FLAT FEE EXPENSIVE?
Because you will be taking away rights which were probably going to bring income forever for that particular musician(s).
