This past Saturday, the serene waters of Seronga came alive as paddles sliced through the Delta’s stillness in a magnificent showcase of culture, tradition, and sporting excellence at the 2025 Nkashi Classic Final. With the village buzzing with energy and pride, the event proved to be yet another unforgettable chapter in the Nkashi movement.
From the early morning breeze to the final race, champions were crowned across multiple categories, with paddlers young and seasoned giving it their all. But the highlight of the day belonged to none other than Lasty, the unstoppable force in the youth category, who claimed victory for the third consecutive year, walking away with the P20,000 prize. A true Delta legend in the making, Lasty continues to inspire a new wave of mokoro champions.
Beyond the fierce competition, the day was a celebration of unity and heritage. The banks of Seronga became a vibrant tapestry of families, elders, artists, and tourists – all drawn together by the rhythm of Nkashi. From storytelling circles and traditional performances to food stalls and laughter-filled conversations, the atmosphere reflected the soul of Botswana.
A heartfelt congratulations to all the winners, participants, and community members who made this moment special. And to the sponsors and partners – your support fuels a movement that is not just about sport, but about preserving identity, empowering youth, and honoring the Okavango way of life.
Most importantly, we extend a standing ovation to Nkashi Trust – for curating not just an event, but an experience. One that seamlessly blends tradition and outdoor adventure, bringing generations together through the mokoro spirit.
Until next year, we say re a leboga Seronga! The paddle lives on. 💧🌿🇧🇼
