This past Saturday, the serene waters of Seronga came alive as paddles sliced through the Delta’s stillness in a magnificent showcase of culture, tradition, and sporting excellence at the 2025 Nkashi Classic Final. With the village buzzing with energy and pride, the event proved to be yet another unforgettable chapter in the Nkashi movement.

From the early morning breeze to the final race, champions were crowned across multiple categories, with paddlers young and seasoned giving it their all. But the highlight of the day belonged to none other than Lasty, the unstoppable force in the youth category, who claimed victory for the third consecutive year, walking away with the P20,000 prize. A true Delta legend in the making, Lasty continues to inspire a new wave of mokoro champions.

Beyond the fierce competition, the day was a celebration of unity and heritage. The banks of Seronga became a vibrant tapestry of families, elders, artists, and tourists – all drawn together by the rhythm of Nkashi. From storytelling circles and traditional performances to food stalls and laughter-filled conversations, the atmosphere reflected the soul of Botswana.

A heartfelt congratulations to all the winners, participants, and community members who made this moment special. And to the sponsors and partners – your support fuels a movement that is not just about sport, but about preserving identity, empowering youth, and honoring the Okavango way of life.

Most importantly, we extend a standing ovation to Nkashi Trust – for curating not just an event, but an experience. One that seamlessly blends tradition and outdoor adventure, bringing generations together through the mokoro spirit.

Until next year, we say re a leboga Seronga! The paddle lives on. 💧🌿🇧🇼

🌍 Earth Day from the Heart of the Delta 🌿
Today, we celebrate Earth Day — not just as a date on the calendar, but as a call to protect the fragile beauty that surrounds us.
Here in the Okavango Delta, we witness Earth’s resilience and vulnerability every day. It’s a place where elephants shape the land, birds draw maps across the sky, and water breathes life into wilderness.
As filmmakers and conservationists, our work is rooted in this soil. We tell the stories that rivers whisper. We capture the quiet resistance of wetlands, the dignity of wildlife, and the urgent need to protect what remains wild and sacred.
The Okavango is more than a location. It’s a living reminder of what we stand to lose — and what we can still protect.
This Earth Day, let’s choose to listen. To learn. To act. To speak for the Delta, and every corner of the planet that can’t speak for itself.

This past Saturday we attended the 2024 version of the annual Nkashi classic race hosted by the Wildbird Trust Botswana and Team Nkashi. This is a water competition event that pits together the fastest Mokoro polers from around the Okavango Delta, every village and community is represented, all the way from Jao to Boro, there is a strong representation which this year saw Boro dominate most categories.

The event gathers poler finalists from the qualifying heats one stage battle it out for the prize money as well as bragging rights of being the fastest poler in the delta. We had different categories ranging from fastest veteran woman and man, to young males and females even the recently introduced mixed doubles categories.

This years spectacle was nothing short of amazing from the races, to Cresta as the venue host, to the entertainment. The entertaining chokoma with his Kgalagadi lyrics to the dazzling Nyinamwere Cultural group from Jao. D'kar's very own youth group "kuru-a-boo also mesmerised the crowd. Despite the Maun heat and August winds the event was a success with Mister T the emcee and every stakeholder during the day doing their part.

Always remember the safety tips, rules & regulations. The dos and donts, you will be nxaa!!!

See you again next year. Tanki team Nkashi.

NB- on a sad note, we send our deep felt condolences to the families of the 3 lives lost on the boat that capsized on the evening of Saturday.. its a tragedy to lose a life.

Our team recently participated in a litter-picking campaign along the Thamalakane River, celebrating the arrival of the new floodwaters. The event was hosted by the BOELA Conservation Trust in collaboration with the Wildbird Trust Botswana and the Nkashi team, with support from Botswana Tourism and numerous other organisations, schools, and private companies.

More efforts of this nature are needed and welcome as these go a long way in undoing the damage we do to our environment and river banks especially come weekends. we all know we love the water as it brings life but we need to clean up after ourselves more. Bigger and better efforts need to be done, more measures to clean up our chill spots need to be put in place because once off litter picking campaigns won't solve the problem

Together, we can make a significant impact on preserving our beautiful environment. Thank you to every individual who came to lend a hand, thank you to all the companies and private organisations, government entities as well as the brains behind this being BOELA, NKASHI RESEARCH & WILDBIRD TRUST for facilitating and spear heading one of the many efforts.

I will not apologize for my pricing.

No small business should.

My pricing allows me to make a profit.

Which allows me to pay my bills.

Which also allows me to stay in business.

My pricing allows me to employ people.

Which allows them to pay their bills.

My pricing allows me to pay myself for the countless hours I work. I’m truly never “off the clock”.

My pricing keeps a roof over my head and food on my table.

My pricing allows me to be able to donate to charitable organizations.

My pricing allows me to create a place for people to go when they need my services

I own a small business. One where the CEO personally works on your product all the way to taking out the office trash. One where the CEO knows your name and truly cares about you.

I am not (a 1 million p**a Company). I’m unable to provide things at the “lowest price”, buy equipment and still stay in business.

Im not the “cheapest”. I’m also not “the most expensive”.

My pricing is what it is to allow this small business to keep going which allows me to keep making a positive impact.

I will not apologize for my pricing.

Trek Bond PTY Ltd will not apologize for its pricing and no small business should. It’s what keeps us afloat, it’s issues of not being the target market it’s just business.
