Yesterday, the world celebrated . and we had the pleasure to share some of our research findings with the Department of Tourism today, for community training and empowerment. Wildlife thrives where communities are empowered. On the front-lines of Botswana, local stewards are the true heroes of conservation.

Wild Bantu is building the digital marketplace to amplify their voice and sustain their legacy. In Botswana, conservation isn't just a policy; it’s a partnership with the communities who live alongside these animals. 🇧🇼🦁

At Wild Bantu, we are bridging the gap between those communities and the world. By digitizing stories and connecting travelers directly to local tourism, we ensure that the value of wildlife stays where it belongs, with the people who protect it every day. 🐘
Here is to the land, the wildlife, and the native people's dreams, where tourism directly fuels their future.

World Pangolin Day. 🌍✨

Why?
Because the world’s most trafficked mammal deserves more than a question mark.

From pangolin to pangolin: whatever the spelling, their future is worth fighting for.

At Wild Bantu, advocating for endangered wildlife is why we started. Through this project, we’re turning awareness into action.

Let’s rewrite the story. 🦛🌿

A Hidden Fact About Mababe's Hippos

Did you know that the hippos in Botswana's Mababe Depression are relatively new residents? Their permanent home here was created by a dramatic geological event as recently as 2007!

For thousands of years, the Mababe Depression was the bed of an ancient super lake, but for centuries it existed as a mostly dry, seasonal grassland. All that changed in 2007 when tectonic plate movements caused the Mababe River to flow again, flooding the area and creating a vast 6,400-acre wetland .

This new, permanent water source transformed the landscape almost overnight, turning it into a year-round haven for wildlife, including hippos, elephants, and massive buffalo herds . So, the hippos you see in Mababe today are part of a pioneering population that has moved into and colonized a brand-new, geologically young ecosystem.

It's a powerful reminder of how dynamic our planet is and how quickly nature can create new homes for its most iconic creatures. Happy World Hippo Day! 🦛💧
