Profiling and celebrating our 2024 Female Artist of the Year Samantha Mogwe
Samantha Mogwe, the multi-faceted creative born to a Motswana father and Zambian mother. Samantha started as a writer of poetry, but her love for music led her to become a singer/songwriter with a passion for Soulful-RnB. Her musical style is heavily influenced by legends like Aretha Franklin and Brandy and Tiwa Savage. Samantha's unique approach to music involves layering vocals and harmonization to create beautiful melodies.
In addition to her musical talents, Samantha holds a degree in Theology and has studied music with the Trinity College of London. Her re-inventive passion led her to join Toast Masters International, a collective that harnesses public speaking skills. She is currently pursuing studies in Project Management while continuing to share her creative talents with the world.

ACHEIVEMENTS
Works on Gabz FM as a radio broadcaster on one of the biggest midday radio shows in Botswana called The Midday Fix Reloaded.
Award winning artist (YAMA's,BOMU and Women’s Awards Botswana).
Nominated for international awards such as the AFRIMMA (Dallas, Texas), ZIKOMO (Lusaka, Zambia).
Performed alongside artists such as Zonke, Joe Thomas, and Kenny Latimore, Lira, Micasa, Hugh Masikela, Musiq SoulChild, Anthony Hamilton and many other international artists.
She has been on world stages in Ethiopia, Sweden, Namibia, Zambia, South Africa and many more.
Made the top 24 of African Idols as the only Motswana representative, contesting against thousands of entrants across Southern African countries.
Invited to be one of the speakers at TED X Gaborone where she prepared a talk on the intricacies of a creative’s journey of internal battles of pushing forward and yet still questioning the validity of their path.
Owns a Project Management agency called NALA Project Masters, which focuses on trusted project solutions.
PASSION PROJECTS
• 2023: Successfully runs an annual fund raising and awareness raising concert called A SISTERS MEDLEY with Mpho Sebina, for Botswana GBV
• Prevention and Support Center. A SISTERS MEDLEY is an annual fundraising and awareness-raising concert that serves as a platform to raise funds for initiatives combating gender-based violence (GBV) while also spreading awareness about this critical issue in the community.
• Through music and advocacy, Samantha and Mpho aim to make a meaningful impact in supporting survivors of GBV and promoting a safer and more inclusive society.
• 2014 till now: Has been working with SKY Girls movement (Anti-smoking campaign), looking at teenage girls and the ways in which they can resist pressure to pick up bad habits such as smoking.
• 2014: Worked with PSI (Population Services International) Botswana on safe male circumcision champagne, which went on to take first place for team spirit in the U.S.A.
• 2012- 2014: A part of the “Inside Out Collective” which hosted art shows to bring awareness to various social ills. The shows where based on the belief that art has the power to communicate and therefore inciting dialogue.
• 2012-2014: Part of “Love Is Art”, a collective that also uses arts in order to bring issues to light such as the 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence.
