TAAZIMA KALA AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS FELLOWSHIP OF THE CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC RELATIONS (CIPR)

- Taazima Kala, Botswana’s first ever Chartered PR Practitioner - and jointly the first in the SADC region - has been awarded Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). Fellowship represents the highest membership grade of the world’s only royally chartered body for public relations professionals. This achievement makes her the first CIPR Fellow from Botswana, and among the first in the region.

“Becoming a Fellow is a profound honour and a culmination of years of commitment to strengthening our profession. This recognition is not just personal; it affirms that the work and talent emerging from Botswana can shape the global future of public relations,” said Taazima.

The CIPR Fellowship is reserved for senior practitioners who have made an exceptional contribution to the industry and to the Institute. Fellows are recognised for their leadership, influence, and commitment to raising professional standards, influencing global practice and championing more inclusive, ethical communications.

The Fellowship recognises Taazima’s outstanding and sustained contribution to the CIPR and to the advancement of the PR profession worldwide. This includes currently servicing as General Manager & Chief Consultant of leading communications consultancy Hotwire, as well as Chair of the CIPR International Committee, Group Chair Representative for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, and EDI Champions Group Chair Representative.

The Gambling Authority is aware of player experience challenges by some gamers (punters), particularly in relation to some betting licensees. We take these concerns very seriously and are actively engaging with all parties involved to ensure the issues are resolved in a fair and transparent manner.

To strengthen this process, the Authority has engaged independent external experts to assist in identifying the root causes of the challenges and to recommend corrective measures. This step reflects our commitment to accountability, integrity, and upholding the highest regulatory standards.

We assure all stakeholders, including licensees, partners, and most importantly, players, that their interests remain protected. Safeguarding the wellbeing of players and ensuring responsible gambling practices remain at the core of our mandate.

ACCESS BANK NAMED BEST FINANCIER FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN AFRICA AT THE 2025 GLOBAL SME FINANCE AWARDS

Access Bank has been recognised as the Best Financier for Women Entrepreneurs in Africa at the 2025 Global SME Finance Awards, held during the Global SME Finance Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa. The awards, hosted by the SME Finance Forum and managed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), celebrate financial institutions that deliver practical and innovative solutions to support SMEs.

The recognition reflects the Bank’s strong record of supporting women-led businesses through financial products and programmes tailored to their needs. Over the years, Access Bank has introduced a range of solutions such as the W Initiative, which provides women with access to loans, advisory services, and networking opportunities, as well as the W Power Loan and Womenpreneur Pitch-a-Ton Africa, a platform offering funding and capacity building for female entrepreneurs.
