⚠️BELMOPAN TAXI DRIVER CHARGED AFTER FRIGHTENING INCIDENT WITH 13 YEAR OLD GIRL⚠️

A sense of worry is hanging over a Belmopan neighborhood after 24 year old taxi driver Wilbert Cal was charged in connection with a disturbing incident involving a 13 year old girl.

Reports are that on Saturday the minor had only gone to a nearby store when Cal allegedly approached her and acted in an inappropriate manner. The young girl was left frightened by the encounter and later reported the matter to police. Officers detained Cal shortly after and he has since been formally charged.

The report has stirred fear and concern among residents, who say children should feel safe simply walking in their own community, not looking over their shoulders. Many parents are reminding their children to stay alert and speak up if something doesn’t feel right.

Police investigations continue.

⚠️MEAT PIES STILL HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN BELIZE — EVEN AS PRICES RISE AND TRADITION ENDURES⚠️

There was a time when a hot Belizean meat pie cost just 50 cents, the everyday snack you could buy without thinking twice. It was the breakfast before work, the school break treat, the quick bite shared with friends. For many Belizeans, meat pies were simply part of life.

Now, they’re much more expensive. Rising ingredient costs have pushed up prices, and what once felt like the cheapest comfort food is no longer light on the pocket. For the younger generation, a meat pie doesn’t always mean “affordable” anymore, it’s a small reminder of how tough the cost of living has become.

Yet the love for them hasn’t faded.

Before sunrise, vendors still fire up their ovens. And by morning, the smell of fresh meat pies begins to drift through the city streets, past markets, schools, bus stops, and workplaces. People still line up, not just for the taste, but for the memories that come with every warm bite.

Even if the price has changed, the meaning hasn’t. Meat pies remain a symbol of Belizean life: simple, familiar, and shared across generations, proof that tradition can survive, even when everything else gets more expensive.

⚠️IS CRIME GETTING OUT OF HAND IN SAN IGNACIO AND SANTA ELENA? WOMAN ROBBED AND DRAGGED AFTER CHURCH⚠️

Concern is growing among residents of San Ignacio and Santa Elena after yet another robbery was reported early this morning along Benque Viejo Road.

A woman walking home from church was robbed in front of Gentle Hands Clinical Laboratory, across from Papa Ben’s Bar & Grill, when a man on a bicycle reportedly grabbed her purse and cellphone and dragged her during the struggle before fleeing the scene. Security footage from the area reportedly exists but is said to be unclear.

This latest attack has added to mounting fears that crime in San Ignacio and Santa Elena may be getting out of hand. In recent months, residents have reported multiple robberies, thefts, break ins, and street assaults, incidents that are leaving many citizens feeling increasingly unsafe, especially when walking or traveling at night.

Community members are calling for:

Increased police presence in key areas

Improved street lighting

Faster police response

Stronger penalties for repeat offenders

Many residents say the twin towns, once considered relatively peaceful, now appear to be facing a rise in opportunistic crime that requires urgent attention before the situation worsens.

⚠️STOP THE VIOLENCE — BELIZE WANTS PEACE AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY⚠️

A community message shared by Mercy Lima is gaining attention in Belize as residents continue to call for an end to violence and greater personal responsibility, especially when it comes to alcohol and drug use.

The message reminds the public that while individuals may choose to drink or use drugs, others are choosing peace, and those choices should not result in harm or conflict.

“Getting drunk and using drugs is your choice. Mine is peace,” the statement says, urging Belizeans to respect one another and to help reduce violence in homes, communities, and public spaces.

Community members say the reminder is timely, as Belize continues to encourage safer neighborhoods and stronger respect among residents. The appeal calls on everyone to think carefully about their actions and to support a more peaceful environment across the country.

The message shared by Lima carries a simple but powerful request: stop the violence and let peace lead the way in Belize.

⚠️ZOE LISTENS TO BELIZEANS AND SWITCHES FROM HITCHHIKING TO BUS TRAVEL⚠️

Zoe listens, that’s the message many Belizeans are sharing today after TravelwithZoe.org, a British born content creator known for documenting her travels across Belize, was seen taking the bus to Corozal instead of hitchhiking.

Zoe’s videos, many filmed in southern Belize including Dangriga, have often shown her hitchhiking as a way to get around. While her adventurous style attracted viewers, it also sparked widespread concern among Belizeans, especially women, who pointed out that hitchhiking is seen locally as risky and socially inappropriate due to safety issues.

Many residents stressed that what may seem like harmless adventure content online can carry real world risks, particularly for women traveling alone.

Following the discussion and public advice, Zoe appears to have taken the concerns seriously. Today, she chose a safer option by traveling by bus, a move many Belizeans describe as respectful, responsible, and reassuring.

Residents say this change shows that their voices were heard and that conversations about safety do matter. For many Belizean women, avoiding hitchhiking is considered an essential precaution due to the potential risks involved.

⚠️TRAVELWITHZOE’S HITCHHIKING VIDEOS SPARK DISCUSSION ON WOMEN’S SAFETY IN BELIZE⚠️

TravelwithZoe.org, a page run by a British born content creator, has been gaining attention in Belize, especially in the southern regions like Dangriga, where much of her content is filmed. Zoe shares her travel experiences, local culture, and daily life, often highlighting her adventurous approach to getting around, including hitchhiking.

While Zoe presents hitchhiking as exciting and practical, most Belizean women view it as risky and socially inappropriate. Concerns over crime and personal safety mean that many women avoid hitchhiking altogether, and local communities generally discourage the practice.

For many residents, hitchhiking is seen as:

A potential safety risk

Inappropriate for women traveling alone

Unnecessary when safer transport options exist

Zoe’s content has sparked online discussion about cultural differences and safety perceptions. While some viewers admire her adventurous spirit and curiosity, others caution that promoting hitchhiking could encourage unsafe practices in a context where local norms prioritize caution and personal security.
What may seem normal for a foreign traveler can carry significant risk for local women.

Observers agree that personal safety should come first, whether for locals or visitors. Travelers are encouraged to consider the environment, local advice, and safer alternatives when exploring the country.

⚠️EMERGENCY VEHICLE DELAYED AFTER GOLF CARTS BLOCK ROAD IN SAN PEDRO⚠️

San Pedro residents are raising concerns about road safety after an emergency vehicle was reportedly delayed on Jewfish Street when multiple golf carts blocked the roadway.

According to eyewitnesses, a fire engine responding to an emergency was unable to pass because carts were parked along both sides of the narrow street. Residents say the vehicle had to wait until the carts were moved before it could continue its route.

The situation has renewed calls for stricter enforcement of parking rules and clearer access lanes for ambulances, fire engines, and other emergency responders. Community members warn that blocked roadways could cost lives in a real crisis.

“It’s dangerous when emergency vehicles can’t get through,” one resident said. “Roads must stay clear so help can reach people in time.”

⚠️CUSTOMER IN COROZAL RAISES CONCERNS OVER TABLE PURCHASE FROM ALMACENES SHANTI⚠️

A Corozal resident has raised concerns about a recent furniture purchase from Almacenes Shanti, claiming that a table bought from the store was unstable and appeared to contain wood boring insects.

The customer says the table began shaking shortly after purchase and later showed signs of infestation. After returning to the store to request a refund, the resident alleges that the business refused to issue one.

“I just want my money back for a faulty product,” the customer said, adding that the experience has left them warning others to carefully inspect items before buying.

The business has not publicly commented on the complaint, and the full details of the dispute remain unresolved. It is not yet known whether the matter will be reported to the relevant consumer authorities.

Residents are reminded to keep receipts, review store return policies, and document any product issues when seeking refunds or exchanges.

⚠️SAN PEDRO RESIDENTS CRITICIZE NEW YEAR’S EVE FIREWORKS EVENT OVER OVERCROWDING AND SHORT DISPLAY⚠️

What was meant to be a joyful New Year’s Eve celebration has instead sparked criticism from residents, who say the fireworks event was poorly managed and left many people crammed into a crowded field with limited space to move.

The event, organized by the PUP Town Council, featured a fireworks show that reportedly lasted around ten minutes. However, many who attended say the venue was far too small for the large turnout. Some people were unable to get inside the main viewing area, while others described being packed tightly together “like sardines in a can.”

Several residents also expressed concern about the crowd control setup, saying the layout created bottlenecks at entry and exit points and made the field feel like an enclosed space with nowhere to move freely.
“This was supposed to be one of the biggest celebrations of the year, but instead many of us felt trapped and uncomfortable,” one attendee said after the event.

Although no major incidents were reported, the event exposed the PUP council’s failure to properly plan for public safety. Residents slammed the organizers for overcrowding, poor crowd control, and a dangerously confined venue, demanding immediate action to prevent such mismanagement from happening again.
