**Strengthening Belize–Quintana Roo Ties**
The Government of Belize, led by the Office of the Prime Minister, held a productive meeting on November 12, 2025, with representatives from the Mexican state of Quintana Roo at the Corozal Free Zone conference room. The discussions focused on deepening cooperation across key areas such as gender-based violence interventions, beach-erosion solutions for the Chetumal Bay, improved coordination on joint initiatives, and the introduction of a border pass for residents of Mexico’s five southern states.
Both sides also agreed to review and enhance existing Memoranda of Understanding to strengthen collaboration between Belize’s Ministry of Investment, the Corozal Free Zone, and Quintana Roo’s economic development institutions. Quintana Roo officials highlighted the benefits of using Belize’s ports for trade, emphasizing opportunities to work together to expand access to CARICOM and wider regional markets.
The meeting brought together senior officials from both countries, reaffirming a shared commitment to stronger partnerships, coordinated investment promotion, and sustainable development for Belize and Southern Quintana Roo.
