Do not play it safe and stay in the same pose. Mix it up with innovative poses. Your wildest pose could be the one that’s picked.

Keep in mind that modeling is a business, not a personal venture. You need to be prepared to negotiate with prospective employers, regarding everything from pay to content. Don't just drop out of contact because you don't like what's offered - either negotiate or say, "Thanks, but no thanks." You never know, the employer you turn down could well have your dream job later - and if you treat him or her rudely or with disrespect, you'll likely miss out.

All about the modeling.

A model (from Middle French modèle//aew), is a person who is employed to promote, display, or advertise commercial products (notably fashion clothing) or to serve as a visual object for people who are creating works of art.

Modelling ("modeling" in American English) is considered to be different from other types of public performance, such as an acting, dancing or being a mime artist. The boundary between modelling and performing is, however, not well defined, although such activities as appearing in a movie or a play are almost never labelled as modelling.

Types of modelling include fashion, glamour, fitness, bikini, fine art, body-part and commercial print models. Models are featured in a variety of media formats including books, magazines, movies, newspapers, and TV. Fashion models are sometimes featured in movies Looker, reality television shows (America's Next Top Model, The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency), or music videos ("Freedom! '90", "Wicked Game", "Daughters", "Blurred Lines").

History[edit]

Early years[edit]
The modelling profession was first established in 1853 by Charles Frederick Worth, the "father of haute couture, when he asked his wife, Marie Vernet Worth, to model the clothes he designed. The term "house model" was coined to describe the type of work. Eventually, this became a common practice for Parisian fashion houses. There were no model measurement requirements and most designers would use women of varying sizes to show the clothing.

Model 101 for our male models.

The fashion-modelling world as it stands today may be dominated by female models, but more and more men are entering the profession. Led by such names as Marcus Schenkenberg, Tyson Beckford, Massimiliano Neri, Michael Gandolfi, Andrew Stetson and many others, men are slowly but surely making their mark in the fashion modelling industry.
People still just think Zoolander David Gandy

But just because there are more female models than there male counterparts, it doesn't mean becoming a male model is easy. In fact, male models are just as sought out as females, so that means competition in the field is just as tough as the feminine side to the modelling industry. So to get at least a fighting chance of making it in male modelling, here are some tips that might help you look your best.
Get in shape. Not just getting in shape, but getting into the best possible shape. Now you don’t need to have rippling muscles. For male models, being toned and fit is more the norm.
If and when you land a modelling job, say, a photo shoot, there are a few things you should remember before going in front of the cameras. One is you should be clean from head to foot. If you've got dark circles or bags under your eyes, make sure you avoid any caffeinated drinks, get eight hours sleep and drink water before the day of the photo shoot. Also eating less than three hours before a photo shoot is a no-no.
These physical preparations, however, are all for nothing if there is something wrong about your attitude towards the job. Confidence is always essential not only for male models, but also for anyone in any given field. As a male model, you must be secure in how you look and your modelling ability. Anything less than unwavering self-confidence will result in a half-hearted performance of your job and that will be apparent in pictures or on the runway.
Now when we say be confident, we don’t mean that you should be too confident… there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance… and remember that there are designers, choreographers and coaches who will tell you what they need from you during photo shoots and shows, so you should be flexible and open to suggestions from these people. And it is of great importance for you to show up for these gigs in a good mood, because a good mood shines through in the final results. If you’re nervous about the job, bringing your favorite CD's or any other personal items that could make you feel comfortable whilst on the job is always a great idea.

Your hair is a natural extension of your body and how you wear it, and have it styled, speaks volumes about the self-image you are projecting out to the world. You will need to find a good hairstylist. They are always hip to new trends in both hair-care and fashion. You should go regularly to keep your hair trimmed and color in the latest styles. The beauty salons often have hairstyle magazines that you and your stylist can look through and determine which cuts and colors will flatter you best. . If you don't want to color your hair, use a shine serum to add a healthy shine.

You are dressed like a model, your hair is styled in the latest fashion from Paris and now you need to learn to be your own make-up artist. Make-up is amazing and any fashionista knows this.
You can transform into so many different looks if you have the necessary tools and skills.
You should look through fashion magazines and watch tutorials on Youtube, practice the looks you see on yourself and your friends. Then invent your own looks and perfect them. Being able to apply make-up like a pro is a must for looking like a model. It requires practice, practice, and then some more practice. However looking like a model does not mean you have to cake yourself in Make-up. They do not, so you should not either. Makeup should be about enhancing your beauty, not covering it up.

Finally, Get out there and be seen. You can't model form the inside your bedroom. You have to show yourself off to the people around you. Go to clubs and special events so you will be noticed and smile as much as possible. People respond positively to a smile and a good attitude will make people want to look at you.

Model 101.

Models have a confident mystique about them, why? Because being a model means being comfortable with yourself, loving the way you look, and being happy. Even the most conventionally beautiful models carry themselves with an aura that exudes style, grace, and health. To get in touch with your inner model you need to cultivate a sense of style and carry whatever you wear with confidence and panache. Always remember inner beauty is the true beauty, as soon as you understand this it will shine through. Believe in yourself and believe that you are beautiful and who knows, you may even get discovered!

Looking like a model doesn't always mean that you have to be a certain size, but if you want to look like a fashion model, you need to be fit and healthy. Being healthy is a million times more important than being thin. You should check with your doctor to find out what your BMI (Body Mass Index) should be. This determines what your proper weight range is for your height, once you know, you should work to get and stay with in it. You can maintain your ideal weight by having a good exercise regime, eating properly and drinking plenty of water. Make sure you include Yoga and pilates in your exercise regime, as these promote a good toned body, improves your posture, increases your flexibility, de-stresses you whilst sharpening your concentration and heightening your mood.

A lot of people don't realise how wrong they are in the clothes they wear. Learn about your body type, height, skin tone and preferences. Discover yourself, and fashion will come to you. You need some basic pieces of clothing like a little black dress, a great fitting trousers, a pair of skinny jeans, white shirt etc. in your wardrobe so that you always look well put together. Just make sure your shoes aren't worn out, and that you can walk comfortably in them (a grimace accompanied by a limp from the pain of wearing a torturous pair of shoes is unbecoming). You don't have to wear designer clothes, especially if you can't afford them. Just look through fashion magazines, pick your favorites and then find look-a-likes. Remember that fashion changes from season to season, so it's important to stay ahead of fashion. What is fashionable today may be out dated tomorrow.
