Guided by the theme โ€œNext-Gen QA: Metrics That Matter,โ€ this yearโ€™s conference brings together leaders in education, quality assurance, and accreditation to share ideas, research, and best practices that strengthen academic standards across the region.

Councillor Javier Castellanos recently accepted a laptop on behalf of the Belize City Council as part of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness 10 Programme.

Under this initiative, each City and Town Council that participated in a series of trainings on Settlement Planning, Urban Data Information, and Management Systems received a laptop equipped with ArcGIS software to further enhance spatial data management and planning capacity.
This effort, led by the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT), helps strengthen local capacity for sustainable development across Belize. ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฟโœจ

Residents of the Capital have been complaining about an odour coming from the BullFrog Waste Water Lift Station in Belmopan. Journalist Ljay Wade investigated the report and found that the leaking sewage from the Station may be flowing into a nearby creek. Here is that report.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister, for the second time since taking office, reshuffled the cabinet. Francis Fonseca is once again the Minister of Education, while Oscar Requeรฑa returns as the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development. Kareem Musa lost the Ministry of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries portfolios to Ministers Jose Mai and Henry Charles Usher; and Florencio Marin is the new Minister of Public Service. Today we caught up with the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Tracy Panton, who commented on the reshuffling. She says that the most telling move is Musa being stripped of his Home Affairs portfolio, making it clear to her that he is the fall guy for the kidnapping of Joseph Budna.

Building a Zone of Peace: Belize at Caribbean Parliamentariansโ€™ Meeting ๐ŸŒŽ

Councilor Sanie Cal proudly represented Belize at the Meeting of Parliamentarians of the Greater Caribbean for Peace in Caracas, Venezuela. The gathering brought together representatives from 14 Caribbean nations to address various pivotal issues concerning peace and solidarity in the region.

Delegates discussed strengthening parliamentary ties, countering disinformation, and fostering regional unity, while reaffirming the 2014 Havana Declaration and signing an agreement to preserve peace. The meeting concluded with a commitment to keeping the Caribbean a Zone of Peace, free from foreign military influence.

Belize stands proudly alongside its neighbors in promoting cooperation, truth, and lasting peace across the region. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿคโœจ

๐€ ๐–๐š๐ฏ๐ž ๐‘๐ข๐๐ž ๐‡๐จ๐ฆ๐ž ๐๐ฎ๐›๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐ž๐!

Over the weekend, two short stories, aimed at teaching children valuable lessons about nature and conservation were released. These short stories, written by Stephanie Dawson, a school teacher at St. Edmund Campion's Roman Catholic School, aims to inspire young readers to care for their environment through familiar and close scenes. Following the launch of these books, we spoke to the author, Stephanie Dawson, who told us more about her inspiration for writing. We also heard from the illustrator of the book, Aliyah Theol, a student of Ms. Dawson, who told us about her experience bringing these stories to life through her art.
