On September 21 in Punta Gorda Town, Guadalupe Gonzalez, an unemployed mother, was knocked off her motorcycle and seriously injured. She sustained multiple broken bones and requires urgent surgery. Guadalupe is currently at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, but the procedure cannot be done until she pays $1,300. She is appealing to the public for assistance with the cost of her surgery and is also in urgent need of blood donations. Anyone wishing to help can make a contribution to the account listed here.

The Punta Gorda Panthers may have been eliminated in the first round of the Belize Elite Basketball League, but the spotlight remains on PG's own Arik Nicholas. Nicholas hes been instrumentel in leading the Cayo Western Ballaz to their first-ever appearance in the finals. Over the past week, much debate surrounded the regular season MVP race, with Nicholas and Coope Lopez emerging as the tep contenders. That rivalry reached its peak when the Western Ballaz faced the Belize City Thunderbolts in a do-or-die semifinal match. In the closing moments, Nicholas took control of the game, sinking the decisive shot as
fans erupted with chants of "MVP." Again, Lopez and the Thunderbolts now out of the tournament, the Western Ballas advanced to the championship round, and Nicholas once again stands at the center of attention this time as a leading candidate for Finals MVP.

On Saturday morning, the Belize Territorial Volunteers made their routine visit to the Sarstoon River, a practice they have maintained for over a decade. At 9:00 a.m., three boats departed from Punta Gorda en route to the Sarstoon.
Along the journey, the Belize Defense Force and the Belize Coast Guard provided es**rt and security for the volunteers. Upon entering the Sarstoon River, under the cover of the BDF and Coast Guard, the BTV observed clear violation of Belize's sovereignty by the Guatemalan Armed Forces. However, the coordinated presence of the BDF and Coast Guard successfully repelled the Guatemalan forces, allowing the BTV to safely complete their mission.

The second annual Anselmo "Chemo" Cruz Fishing Tournament was held on Sunday, September 14th, drawing fishermen and women eager to compete for the grand prize of $1,200. Despite the attractive prizes the turnout was very low compared to TIDE's tournament where more than 25 boats participated. The tournament is named in memory of the late Anselmo "Chemo" Cruz, a well-known fisherman from Punta Gorda whose legacy continues to inspire the local fishing community. PGTV extends congratulations to the organizers for hosting another successful tournament.
