Last night was the first big rain of the season. Everyone knew it was coming but the Punta Gorda Town Council did nothing to prepare for the rains. This morning parts of Punta Gorda are already flooded. Residents say clogged drains, filled with garbage and debris, caused water to overflow into streets and yards after last night's rainfall. They are calling on the Punta Gorda Town Council to prioritize cleaning drains and improving drainage rather than blaming climate change for the flooding.

The general public is reminded that today at 5:00 p.m., citizens of Punta Gorda and the surrounding communities are invited to participate in the March for Justice, which will begin at the Punta Gorda Central Park.

Teachers, healthcare workers, union members, civil society organizations, and all concerned citizens are encouraged to join in solidarity and stand up for justice for Bonilla.

Today, Julian Cho Technical High School held its graduation ceremony for two hundred students. During the event, the top ten students were recognized on stage, all of whom were female. A total of eleven students were recognized due to a tie for ninth place. We will have more on the graduation in our next newscast.
