AFIENI [Faith] is an Official Selection in the Jamaica International Faith and Family Film Festival 2024!

Logline:
A religious middle-aged Garifuna woman must choose whether to embrace or reject her culture amidst a health crisis.

Tell every yaadi you know to reach the festival and look out for AFIENI on May 18, 2024 at the brunch with Jamaican screen legend, Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter.

This will be its Jamaican premiere. 🇧🇿🎬🇯🇲

AFIENI [FAITH] will be screened at the opening night of the Belize International Film Festival on Friday, November 3rd, 2023 at 7p.m. in Belmopan. This is our Red Carpet Premier!

To join us on the opening night is $30 BZD per person or purchase a festival pass for $60 to watch unlimited films during the week. UB students can attend for free. Call or message +501 668-8282.

AFIENI is a Garifuna film with English subtitles. It tells the story of a middle-aged Garifuna woman in Hopkins who is torn between Garifuna spirituality and evangelical Christianity.

Written, directed and co-produced Felene M. Cayetano, this short film was produced by Dr. Gwen Nunez Gonzalez in Belize with a 90% Garifuna cast and crew. AFIENI was generously supported by the Commonwealth Foundation through the Caribbean Voices initiative to support emerging filmmakers in the Caribbean; also, through a grant from Fondo Miradas by Ambulante/Netflix.

Come join other 2SLGBTQIA+ /Q***r/Ally people in Zoom for a Watch Party! Together we will enjoy watching and discussing films with 2SLGBTQIA+ /Q***r representation and/ or storylines.

We open a Zoom for anyone in the community to join us to share our love of 2SLGBTQIA+/ Q***r films, as well as watch & discuss our Collection of Films together.

The first few minutes are a general discussion, catch up, and making sure all participants have legal access to our GBFF Films via Eventive, followed by watching the films.

After watching the films, we'll discuss the films and chat about the films and other stuff.

Good news! We’re very pleased to share that AFIENI director and screenwriter Felene Cayetano () has been selected as an inaugural Fellow in the 2021 cohort of Caribbean Film Academy, a part of this year’s Third Horizon Film Festival ( )!

Urban Garifuna is very proud to share with you that we won a spot at this year’s RM Digithon.

Resources Mobilisation Digithon - RMD 2021 is a 24 hour event that aims to connect Cultural Creative Investors with Cultural Creative actors. It is the world’s largest virtual meetup with art and creativity funders.

Many thanks to for organizing the contest that granted us this opportunity and to both Culture Funding Watch and RM Digithon for hosting this wonderful event.
