Hopkins Village Council Named “Village Council of the Year”

Hopkins Village, Belize – August 7th 2026

The Hopkins Village Council proudly announces that it has been selected as the Village Council of the Year by the Ministry of Rural Transformation – Community Development and Local Government.

The prestigious recognition was awarded to the Hopkins Village Council for “strong leadership and responsible community engagement and management.”

This achievement is a tremendous honor for the Council and, more importantly, for the entire community of Hopkins. It recognizes the hard work, dedication, and commitment being demonstrated toward improving our village and serving the people of Hopkins.

Under the leadership of Chairlady Ella Carr, the Council has continued to prioritize community development, cleanliness, infrastructure, youth initiatives, cultural activities, and stronger engagement with residents, organizations, businesses, and government partners.

The Council also received a $5,000 donation from the Ministry of Rural Transformation in recognition of this achievement.

Chairlady Ella Carr expressed her appreciation to the Council members, staff, volunteers, community partners, and residents who have contributed to the progress being made in Hopkins.

“This award belongs to the people of Hopkins. It is a reflection of what we can accomplish when we work together, support one another, and remain committed to the development of our community.
We are extremely grateful for this recognition, and it motivates us to continue working even harder for the people of Hopkins.”

The Hopkins Village Council extends sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Rural Transformation for this recognition and support.

We also thank the people of Hopkins for their continued trust, participation, constructive feedback, and support.

The Hopkins Village Council extends its deepest gratitude to everyone who played a part in making Hopkins Day 2026 a memorable celebration of our culture, community, and unity.
