The Cayo Welcome Center’s Back to School Pop-Up brought local vendors and shoppers together in San Ignacio for a successful community event!

From school uniforms and books to backpacks, shoes and locally made accessories, participating vendors offered families a variety of items as preparations for the new school year continue.

The event also gave residents an opportunity to shop local and support small businesses from the area. Thanks to all the participating vendors and everyone who came out to support the Back to School Pop-Up!

2026 "Tek Time fi Read" Book Festival Brings Belmopan Together

The 2026 Tek Time fi Read Book Festival was a celebration of books, learning, laughter, and the joy of reading.

Children, parents, teachers, and volunteers came together, dedicated to encouraging a love for books and making reading a fun and meaningful part of community life.

The event was made possible by Ian Anderson’s Caves Branch Jungle Lodge and Books For Development, and Tek Time Fi Read volunteers.

A wonderful reminder that when a community comes together, we can help inspire the next generation of readers.

Building Skills, Creating Opportunities

Participants in Santa Elena recently celebrated the successful completion of a Spanish & English Reading Course, receiving Certificates of Completion in recognition of their dedication and hard work.

The course was co-sponsored by Councilor Abdel Cowo, Karina Quiroz and Grace Community Church, Santa Elena, providing participants with an opportunity to strengthen their language and reading skills.

Santa Elena Baptist Youth Group Gives Back Through Riverside Cleanup.

The Santa Elena Baptist Youth Group recently came together for a riverside cleanup, helping protect the environment and keep the community clean.

The cleanup helps prevent trash from finding its way into the watershed and waterways, while encouraging young people to take an active role in caring for their community and protecting Belize’s natural resources.

Discovery Day: All About Snakes

The Belize Natural History Archive & Museum invites children ages 5–14 to a special Discovery Day: All About Snakes on Saturday, August 15, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Kids will enjoy an educational lecture by Dr. Stephen, hands-on arts and crafts, a tour of the museum exhibits, and an opportunity to learn more about snakes and their role in Belize’s natural environment.
