PATRIOT DAY — SEPTEMBER 11

Where were you?

It’s one of those rare questions where millions of people can answer with an exact place, an exact moment, even the person standing beside them.

September 11, 2001.

For those of us old enough to remember, the images are burned into memory. The confusion. The second plane. The realization that this wasn’t an accident. The Pentagon. Flight 93. The towers falling.

And then came something many will never forget hearing from Ground Zero.

Amid the dust and devastation was the relentless cacophony of firefighters’ PASS alarms, the Personal Alert Safety System devices designed to sound when a firefighter stops moving.

One alarm meant a firefighter might be down.

After the towers fell, so many were sounding at once.

Those piercing electronic cries echoed through the rubble while surviving firefighters and rescuers searched desperately for their brothers, colleagues and civilians trapped beneath it. It became one of the most haunting sounds associated with that terrible day.

343 FDNY firefighters were lost on September 11.

Then came the strange silence across America. Airports empty. Families calling each other. Strangers talking to strangers. American flags suddenly everywhere.

Today is Patriot Day, a day to remember the nearly 3,000 people who were killed, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the families whose lives changed forever.

Twenty-five years later, there are adults alive today who weren’t even born when it happened.

But for those who lived through that morning, it can still feel remarkably close.

Where were you when you first heard America was under attack?

Most people who remember 9/11 remember the exact spot.

Never forget. September 11, 2001.

🇧🇿 HAPPY ST. GEORGE’S CAYE DAY!

In 1798, the Baymen and their allies bravely stood their ground at the Battle of St. George’s Caye, fighting off the Spanish and helping shape the Belize we call home today.

They endured cannon fire, naval battles and the very real possibility of Spanish rule…

So that 228 years later, we could honor their sacrifice by putting neon parachute pants, Ray-Bans and ridiculous AI filters on historical pictures. 😂😂😂

They fought with muskets and cutlasses.
We fight with memes and filters.

Different battlefield. Same Belizean spirit. 🇧🇿🤣

Hip Hip Hooray! September celebrations have officially begun!

Join us in wishing the Belize Athletics Team delegation safe travels as they head to Honduras. Team Belize is scheduled to start competing in Athletics on Thursday in the 2026 Codicader games. The delegation of 30 athletes will be competing in 100 and 200 meters run, shot put, high jump, long jump and triple jump.
