KHMH REMINDS DRIVERS TO PULL OVER

“If you see an ambulance on any of our two major highways heading into Belize City, it is safe to assume that they are coming to the KHMHA, the national referral center for the nation.

After noticing some impolite drivers not upholding ambulance etiquette, we want to remind the motoring public of your responsibility as it relates to ambulances on our highways.

Stay calm and do not panic.

Look and listen: Check your mirrors and windows to confirm where the ambulance is coming from.

Safely pull over to the RIGHT side of the road.

Stop completely and wait until the ambulance has passed.

If you're at a traffic light, stay put—even if it's red—don’t block the intersection.

Do not follow the ambulance closely or try to "chase" it through traffic, as was observed.

Remember:
Seconds save lives. Yielding to an ambulance quickly and safely can help save someone in critical condition. This gives us the precious minutes and seconds for the staff of the KHMHA to do our life saving work.

Please "Like" and 'Share' to become a part of our growing Health Information sharing community.”

WANNA BE GUNMAN CAPTURED WITH HIS GUN

Mark Jackson, 25, woke up one day and decided he wanted to be a gangster.

Well, “gangster life” decided otherwise.

On Sunday he rolled out on his motorcycle and shot a man near Central American Boulevard.

But that same man, beat him down and took away his .38 revolver before he could fire more shots.

He then handed Jackson over to police.

He has since been arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Grievous Harm and Use of deadly means of harm.

The lesson in all of this is that the Belize Central Prison has a lot of space for aspiring criminals.

IDB Special Mission visits Corozal Town; Mayor Rigo Vellos signs MOU to move Sustainable and Inclusive Urban Project forward

Corozal Town is set to benefit from an Urban Development Project funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and supported by the Government of Belize aimed at significantly upgrading key locations along the Bay.

This morning, Mayor Rigo Vellos signed the Memorandum of Understanding which formalised the Council's lead role in the project along with the Ministry of Local Government and Ministry of Finance.

The project seeks to enhance key public areas, including the Mother’s Park, Rotary/Children’s Park, the Municipal Pier, and Liberty Court among others. Furthermore, a boardwalk structure will be constructed along a section of the Bay to achieve coastal protection with nature-based solutions.

Attending the event were Mayor Rigo Vellos, Deputy Mayor Rodolfo Narvaez, Councillor Otoniel Riveroll, and Town Administrator Alberto Vellos for the Council; and, Ministry of Finance Central Executing Unit reps Ms. Kathya Castaneda (Project Manager), Dr. Pedro Villegas (Environmental Specialist) and Mr. Isani Enriquez (Project Engineer); as well as, IDB consultants Gabriel Hernandez, Celine Neal and Janette Archer-Headley.
