Why I ‘Doula’
Hi, my name is Shaira - I am a DONA Trained and Certified Birth Doula. The two most beautiful, amazing little girls call me Mama, and my high-school crush (now Hubby!) calls me Babe.
I have an undeniable passion for pregnancy and birth. I knew this since I was a young girl, and after being blessed to Birth my two girls, the passion grew stronger. I was ready to be the next 18 Kids and Counting, but reality got in the way. When we decided that we were done adding to our family, I realized I was not done helping others add to their families. Luckily I have had the opportunity to support friends throughout their journey’s in becoming parents, in which I recognized, this is what I need to do. This is what I want to be when I ‘grow up’. And so, I am doing just that.
I want to help provide that positive Birth experience for others - because it is possible. I want to support you and you partner in making informed decisions. Not only about your birth, but pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum. I truly believe that every person that is having a baby, is deserving of whatever Birth they imagine. Of course things don’t always go to plan, and that’s also what I am there for. To reassure, support, encourage and empower you and your partner through it all. Before, during, and after.
A Doula does not replace your partner. I will complement and enhance your partner’s support, and of course support your partner as well. Your partner loves and knows you better than anyone else, and that is an important role all in itself. I will be sure you are both well taken care of, and be able to offer suggestions on how they can help you through this journey - so you can do it together. Labor can be a marathon, and I want to make it the most satisfying and positive marathon you and your partner will ever do.
