LWR Underground Archive An underground behemoth, contributing to Edmonton’s experimental music scene, arts and culture for more than two decades, Little W***e Records has been the birthplace of boundary-pushing collaborations through music and video, founded by the illusive Marek Czuba in 1999;
“LWR experiments with sounds and stuff that's out of bounds”.
Launching the iconic Hip Hop collective Eshod Ibn Wyza in 2003, LWR was an integral part of the early 2000’s underground hip hop scene in Edmonton, contributing to the development of artists like Corvid Lorax, Tzadeka, Acta Non Verba, and Lazarush: artists with distinct DIY sounds and ethos’ that continue to be part of the story of Edmonton’s underground music landscape.
After all these years, LWR remains a subversive platform for innovation, collaboration and genre-defying art that positions itself against the hypocrisy and exploitation inherent in a toxic music industry, and world. LWR: UNDERGROUND ARCHIVES is a celebration of one independent label who refuses to quit! As the world celebrates 50 years of Hip Hop, we look back on some of the artists, venues, and vibes that helped build this city’s rich underground reputation, through gig posters, multi-media installation, and never-seen-before archival materials.
