📣 Big News! 🎬

I’m beyond excited to share that Harvesting the Power of Music — the locally made documentary about Armstrong MetalFest and its unexpected impact on a small-town community — has been officially selected for the Sunshine Film Festival in Vernon! 🌞

This story began with a group of passionate metalheads who brought a festival to a quiet farming town… but no one could have predicted how the town would respond.

If you’ve never seen it — or want to see it on the big screen — it’ll be showing sometime between June 20–22 during the festival. Details to come.

Still taking it all in after an incredible turnout for the premiere of Harvesting the Power of Music this past Saturday 🎬🔥

Seeing a near full house at the Asparagus Theatre—watching this story unfold, most for the first time—was something I’ll never forget. Huge thanks to everyone who came out to support local film, local music, and a story rooted right here in our community.

That night was too fun not to stage selfie! 📸

Grateful. Humbled. Energized.

🌌Did you know you can see the Orion Nebula with the naked eye right here in Spallumcheen? ✨

I captured this photo just a couple of nights ago, but what makes the Orion Nebula special is that you don’t need a camera to enjoy it if you are in Spallumcheen. Here, the skies are dark enough that on a clear night, this tiny, faint blur of light is visible if you know where to look. While it might not show much detail to the naked eye, capturing it with a camera sure does reveals it's incredible colors and textures.

Spallumcheen isn’t just about rolling hills and farmland—it’s also a gateway to some of the darkest, most awe-inspiring night skies in the Okanagan. 🌟 Whether you’re a stargazer, a photographer, or just passing through, don’t forget to take a moment to look up. The stars here never disappoint. 🌠

The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) is the closest large galaxy to our Milky Way and is one of a few galaxies that can be seen unaided from the Earth.

- It is approaching the Milky Way at a speed of about 250,000 miles per hour.
- The galaxy is expected to collide with the Milky Way in about 4.5 billion years.
- The Andromeda Galaxy has a supermassive black hole at its center, with a mass of approximately 1.5 million times that of the sun

Over the holidays I found myself getting back in to Astrophotography. As a kid I was always enthralled by the cosmos and it motivated me to learn how to use all the manual features of a camera, that I employ today when filming content for my clients. In fact, the same camera you see me using around town is what I used to capture this image!

For those who are interested, you don't need to be in a super dark place or need an expensive camera. This image was taken from my back deck and I could have taken it with an unaided smartphone. The technique and process is what matters here.
