The New Hamburg Fall Fair was a great success! Congrats to the directors and all the wonderful volunteers to kept the events running smoothly. The event would not exist without the community spirit of volunteers.

Between the Horse Pull Thursday; ProRiderFMX Friday; the smoke show of hide and seek at the Demolition Derby Saturday evening; or the car fire and vehicle parts littering the ground at the Derby today... the fair was highly entertaining.

Crossing Guard Appreciation Drawing Contest!

Submissions Due March 31

We hope you’ll participate in the Ontario Traffic Council’s School Crossing Guard Appreciation Drawing Contest.

Your art could be featured across Ontario during Crossing Guard Appreciation Week, June 2nd to June 6th, 2025!

Contest Theme: Celebrating Our School Crossing Guards
Contest Opens: February 3, 2025
Contest Closes: March 31, 2025

Objective:
This contest aims to engage children aged 4 to 14 years in expressing their gratitude and appreciation for School Crossing Guards through art. The winning drawings will be featured on thank-you cards distributed during School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week.

How to Participate:

Each child may submit one drawing.
Submissions should be emailed to [email protected] along with the child’s first name, age, school, municipality, and contact information.

As a bonus, Waterloo region students can cc us at [email protected] for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Michaels Arts and Crafts.

Important Note to Parents/Guardians:
By cc’ing [email protected], parents/guardians consent to their child’s artwork to also be featured in local area promotions related to School Crossing Guard Appreciation Week along with their first name and City or Town. All other STSWR Standard Contest Rules apply.

Artwork Guidelines:
1. Size and Format:
• Drawings should be on an 8.5 x 11 inches paper.
• Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, or PDF.
2. Medium:
• Children are encouraged to use any drawing medium of their choice.
3. Theme Representation:
• Illustrate the theme “Celebrating Our School Crossing Guards” in a positive and appreciative manner.
4. Originality:
• Entries must be the original work of the participant.
5. Inclusivity:
• Encourage diversity and inclusion in the drawings, reflecting the different aspects of the community.
Submission Deadline:
All entries must be submitted by March 31, 2025 Late submissions will not be considered.

Due to anticipated inclement weather and heavy snow over the next 24-48 hours, Heritage Day has been postponed. Heritage Wilmot is still planning on hosting the event at a later date and will advise as soon as a new date is chosen (expected sometime in April).
