Just finished ten intense days at the learning about adventure filmmaking. Most importantly I walked away with a clearer vision of the work I want to be doing and how to get there. Looking forward to seeing everyone's great ideas come to life! Thanks to for the lovely photos. @ Banff, Alberta

Last month I heard an Indigenous grandmother tell about the days when her own grandmother would teach her how to garden. She said the seeds you put in the ground grow for you. They grow into plants and they produce vegetables for you. All they do is for you. It's respectful to pick everything these little plants give you. I try my best to remember this. I can barely keep up with the beans this year, and I am actually afraid of the onslaught of tomatoes we're about to have. These little plants are definitely overachievers! Let me know if you need any beans or tomatoes!

"I'd like to change the future for many of these people." - Becky BigCanoe

Becky is building up the most vulnerable of our population in Canada. Last fall she hosted me at her straw bale home, and believe me, her vision for a better future is contagious! Check out the video for Alternatives Journal.

Becky Big Canoe built her own sustainable house out of straw and now, through her non-profit Environatives Training Initiatives, she is teaching other women how to do the same.

A lot of you have heard me talking about Alternatives Journal's upcoming issue about the , and it looks like it's almost here!! Hundreds of hours of hard work has gone in to the issue from the writers and artists represented inside, as well as from the AJ team. The stories will change the way you see the North, truly. I feel like a mother waiting to see her newly born child. I can't wait to hold this issue in my arms.

The Grand River Water Walkers are finished this year's water walk! They walk to pray for the healing of the water, to raise awareness about our relationship with water and our complete dependence on it. I had the honour of capturing last year's walk in a video for Alternatives Journal. Have a look!
