Closing the year with one of my favorite portraits—inside the Fairmont Banff Springs.
This family traveled from Edmonton to Banff for a wedding. Like many families, they dreamed of capturing a moment together—but timing, coordination, and location don’t always make that easy. Getting everyone dressed, present, and truly there inside one of the most iconic hotels in the world is no small thing.
They reached out to me with a simple request:
“Can we freeze this moment?”
We met at the River View Hall, tucked quietly on Mezzanine Level 2, just across from the Alberta and New Brunswick Conference Rooms. Soft light, timeless architecture, and a rare pause in a busy celebration. For a few minutes, the wedding faded away—and what remained was connection.
What many people don’t realize is that portraits at the Fairmont Banff Springs require care and respect for the space. Guests must be staying at the hotel, the hotel must be informed, and the photographer must carry proper business licensing and insurance. These rules aren’t obstacles—they’re what protect the experience and ensure it remains truly unforgettable.
And that’s what this was.
Not just a portrait—but a memory, preserved with intention, in a place that already feels like a story.
Moments pass. Places endure.
But when preparation meets meaning, a photograph becomes legacy.
