Drowning is still a serious problem in Canada. Remember our emergency number is 911.

Prevention is most important, always have life jackets with you on the water, better yet, always wear them. The water is colder and the shore is farther away than you think.

We have had multiple drownings in the mountain parks this summer and elsewhere. Let’s not have any more.

Steven Roy is an intensivist-"wildernist" with a specific interest in very remote environments. He joins us at to discuss how extreme environments impact the medical care in extreme environments as well as potential solutions.

Meaning you will be better prepared to pack and use medical equipment for extreme and expeditionary environments.

Give calories and use a hypo wrap. Skip the warm fluids, unless you just want them to feel good.

Pretty much same for WArm IVs I’d argue
