🚢 Shipping Update 100000000001 🚢

Ships and ships and ships… OH MY!

We’re excited to share that we are steadily working through updates to the ship listings in the webstore!

✅ Completed:
- 1:700 Age of Sail
- 1:700 Pre-Dreadnought
- 1:700 World War One
- 1:700 World War Two

🔜 Next Up:
- 1:1250 scale ships
- 1:2400 scale ships for Dread Not!

After that, we’ll move on to the 15mm and 28mm WW1/WW2/Modern listings, before tackling the 54mm ranges.

This process is taking longer than expected (thanks to the one-at-a-time edit window slowing us down), but we are slogging through the red tape. The good news? These updates mean we’ll be able to get orders shipped to our local American customers sooner rather than later!

Thanks for your patience—and stay tuned, more updates are on the horizon!

📦 Shipping Update 101… or is it 102? Maybe 120? 🤯
At this point, we’ve lost count—but we do have some news!

We’ve worked out a way to reopen shipping to the USA. By using a 3rd party app (Zonos), we can now prepay all duties and fees for shipments through Canada Post. This means US customers will know exactly what they’re paying—no surprise charges at delivery.

⚠️ Here’s what this looks like:

US customers will see a 43–45% price increase on eBay items (this covers tariffs + processing fees).

Non-US customers: don’t worry—you’ll receive a refund of that added cost after your order is placed.

On DobbiesHobbies.net, we’ll keep US shipping turned off and prices unchanged, so non-US customers have a smooth option without refunds.

Now, the tough part: we need to manually edit ~4,700 listings on eBay. That’s going to take some time! Starting this coming week, US customers will see items gradually reappear—we’ll begin with the 1:700 scale ships and expand from there over the next couple weeks.

We can’t thank you enough for your patience and loyalty while we fight through this tariff chaos. We’re looking forward to getting past the admin headaches and back to what we love most: pushing models around the table! 🎲⚓

🇺🇸📦 It’s Tariff Day… and We’ve Got More Questions Than Answers 📦🇺🇸

Well, here we are. The new US tariff rules are in effect, and as expected, we’ve got more questions than answers.

We’ve been waiting to see if eBay would step up with tools to help sellers navigate these changes. Sadly… no assistance. I had hoped they’d provide a way to charge the duty and fees directly to customers at checkout—but unless we manually adjust every single item, that’s just not possible.

So right now, we have two (imperfect) options:
1️⃣ Send parcels DDU (Delivered Duty Unpaid): the customer would be on the hook for any surprise fees when the parcel arrives.
2️⃣ Send parcels DDP (Delivered Duty Prepaid): we cover the tariff upfront, but we’d likely need to raise prices ~35% for US orders and tack the extra fees (Merchandise Processing Fee, Entry Fee, processing charges, etc.) onto shipping. The problem? That unfairly penalizes our loyal non-US customers, so we’d have to manually refund them on every order. We are also trying to determine the fees associated with DDP shipments so we can properly charge the customer.

Later today we’ll be at the local Canada Post post office to explore any DDP solutions they can offer. In the meantime, US shipping will stay paused for a few days while we figure out the cleanest way to handle this.

We appreciate your patience during this stressful time. Trust me—we’d much rather be pushing toy soldiers around a table than crunching tariff math.

🛠️✨ Pre-Coloured Terrain Incoming! ✨🛠️

“Pre-coloured terrain: giving your opponent one less thing to complain about.” 😏

Yes, you read that right—soon you’ll be able to grab pre-coloured 3D printed Warhammer 40K terrain from us. No priming, no endless hours of drybrushing, no “I’ll get around to it someday” pile of grey plastic lurking in the corner. Just drop it on the table and start rolling dice.

Imagine fighting your next grimdark battle across gothic ruins, industrial scatter pieces, and war-torn buildings that look the part straight out of the box. Your minis will pop, your games will look cinematic, and you can spend more time playing and less time painting terrain you never wanted to paint anyway.

Stay tuned… the future of ready-to-play tabletops is almost here. ⚔️🎲

Temporary Pause on USA Shipping

Unfortunately, we’ve had to temporarily pause shipping to the USA while we await clarity on the new tariff situation.

As it stands, all duties must now be paid upfront. There’s conflicting information on what happens if parcels are sent “duty upon delivery.” Some sources suggest USPS will reject those shipments outright, while others claim they will accept them—but with a flat $80–$200 fee per parcel, regardless of the order value.

Obviously, we can’t expect our customers to pay $80+ in fees for a single ship model. And since all of our products are made to order with a 7–10 day turnaround, any orders placed now would likely fall under the new tariffs—meaning we’d have to cover those fees ourselves.

We’re monitoring the situation closely and will update you as soon as there’s a workable solution. Thank you for your patience and support while we navigate this mess—we’d much rather be focused on models and gaming than on tariff policy!

📢 Important Shipping Update for Our US Customers

In this ever-changing world, we unfortunately have some updates to share regarding shipping to the United States.

➡️ Starting August 29th, all shipments to the US—regardless of value—will be subject to duties and customs clearance. Canada Post has advised that their current Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU) services to the US (Tracked Packet™ USA, Expedited Parcel™ USA, Xpresspost™ USA) will no longer be compliant. Any non-compliant shipments arriving after this date risk being returned to sender.

To stay ahead of this, effective August 25th these Canada Post options will be disabled on eBay Labels.

⚠️ What this means for you:
We’ll be transitioning back to using UPS for US orders. While UPS is reliable, it does come at a higher cost. Unfortunately, this means postal fees for our US customers will see a significant increase compared to the flat rate we’ve been able to maintain for years.

We know this is frustrating and we truly apologize for the added expense. We’ll continue to look for solutions that balance reliability and affordability, we do hope that Canada Post will be able to resume shipping to the USA in the future. It honestly seems like the current USA import regulations were written in crayon over a lunch break—no one really knows what’s going on, and as a result, everyone is being forced to transition to new systems.

🙏 Thank you for sticking with us—we’d much rather spend our time building models and rolling dice with you all than dealing with shipping headaches! Hopefully, the world regains its senses soon.

Into the Trenches of Vehicle Design!

We’re hard at work designing the steel behemoths of the First World War — from the lumbering Mk I Males and Females to nimble FT-17s — and as always, we’re blending theory-crafting with cold, hard numbers.

Over the next few months, these tanks will roll from the workshop to the battlefield as we put them through rigorous playtesting.

Our first playtest kicks off this coming week with a scenario inspired by the attack towards Courcelette, September 1916 — expect mud, wire, and the roar of engines under fire.

Drop us a like and follow along as we test, tweak, and refine these WWI monsters for the tabletop!

Just because we’re working on a comprehensive core rulebook doesn’t mean there won’t be supplements!

Our first expansion will focus on the famous Brutinel’s Brigade: The Canadian Independent Force — truly one of the forerunners of mobile warfare as we know it today.

Why supplements?
They give us the space to highlight unique, individual formations that would otherwise add too much bloat to the core rules. In these PDFs, we can dive deep into the history of each unit, explore their unique abilities, and even include dedicated scenarios to bring their story to the tabletop.

Get ready to field one of the most innovative forces of the Great War — and see just how dangerous mobility could be among the trenches of the Western Front.
