Last weekend I did my first proper XC race. I got spanked a little bit. Firstly, my bike is not an XC bike. It’s big and heavy with the grippiest tires you can get. Secondly, I realize that this type of racing requires strategy and the ability to regulate your energy. I was keeping pace with the leaders and I thought I was kicking ass until it felt like my heart and lungs would explode and I had to recover and fell behind. 😂 Third, I didn’t pre-ride the course. Four, I was having too much fun on the jumps! 😅 It’s not my type of race, but I know I can ride faster. With an XC bike (or even faster tires), a proper pre-ride, and a bit of humble strategy I know I can do better. Stoked to have made it through the race and not come dead last and learned a whole bunch. Thanks to for the sweeeeet photogs. 🤘

Today was the best riding conditions of the season. I got my wheel balanced by my friends at this morning and I thought I’d test it out and accidentally rode 650+ kms. 🤷‍♂️

I don’t trust auto-pilot on this car. It’s cool. Helpful if I need to pass snacks to the kids. But not functional enough yet to kick back and have a nap. 😄

In the giftbox I received from is a neat pack of 8 different colour coded Australian Bush Spice blends. Very cool flavours. This weekend I used the “blue” spice (swipe to see ingredients) on some fat prawns and people went nuts for them. Also, a perfect pairing with the Wakefield Check my stories for a pic of the cook.

It surprises some people when I tell them I do NOT like the feeling of being drunk. I drink alcohol for the sensory experience, and to enjoy the craftsmanship that goes into making a fine spirit or wine, and to share a moment with friends. My MO is drink less and drink better. Who’s with me?

One of the positives of living through a pandemic is having lots of time to shred trails with my 8yo. It’s filled this summer with challenge and adventure and insane amounts of fun. The best though, is seeing this kid in his element. ❤️
