When candidates attend community fundraising events, should they be wearing campaign shirts, hats or clothing with their name and logo prominently displayed?

Ward 2 Councillor Kathryn Brown recently shared her view online that fundraising events should be about the organization and the cause, not campaigning.

We were honoured to be part of the Terry Fox Run here in the Bay of Quinte today, joining so many incredible people who came together to keep Terry’s Marathon of Hope moving forward.

Terry started this journey with a dream to help find a cure for cancer — and decades later, Canadians are still showing up to carry that dream forward. 🇨🇦

❤️ Honoured to be part of the Terry Fox Run right here in the Bay of Quinte.

Today, we were proud to be at West Zwick’s Park for the 46th annual Terry Fox Run, joining our community in keeping Terry’s incredible legacy of hope, courage and determination alive.

In 1980, Terry Fox set out on his Marathon of Hope, running across Canada on an artificial leg to raise money for cancer research. He ran more than 5,300 kilometres over 143 days before cancer forced him to stop.

Today, his dream continues. In February 2026, the Terry Fox Foundation surpassed $1 billion raised for cancer research a remarkable milestone made possible by Canadians coming together for decades.

And our own Bay of Quinte community continues to show up in a big way. Last year, the local run raised a record $58,000, bringing the region’s total raised since the run began to around $1.1 million.

Thank you to everyone who ran, walked, volunteered, donated and helped make today so special.
