Happy Autism Awareness Month! Today, and every day, we have the opportunity to celebrate the richness and diversity that comes with autism. This month is about much more than just raising awareness; it’s about advocating for the inclusion, understanding, and acceptance of individuals on the autism spectrum. It’s about recognizing their unique qualities, supporting their needs, and ensuring they are celebrated for exactly who they are.

Autism is not a singular experience – it’s a spectrum that encompasses a wide range of abilities, traits, and ways of interacting with the world. When you meet someone with autism, you’ve only met one person with autism, because every individual is different. Just like the rest of us, people on the spectrum have their own personalities, preferences, and perspectives. The beauty of autism lies in its diversity, and it’s essential that we acknowledge and respect that no two people with autism are alike.

We need to go beyond awareness and take concrete steps toward inclusion. This means creating spaces where individuals with autism can thrive and be their authentic selves. ✨ Today is the FINAL day to place your order for our Autism Fundraiser! 30% of the proceeds will be donated to CSBD Autism Services in Belleville, Ontario. The shirts are created using screen prints, where the ink becomes part of the fabric thread, ensuring it won’t peel off. While April is Autism Awareness Month, awareness should be celebrated year-round. Let’s spread the message of the importance of understanding.

Autism is a part of the human experience—it doesn’t need to be “fixed.” Everyone deserves love, respect, and inclusion, no matter how they experience the world. By sharing our stories, we can break down myths and encourage a deeper understanding and acceptance of those with autism. Let’s spread the word: Autism isn’t something to fear or misunderstand—it’s just a different way of being.

I am beyond grateful to my friend Sarah Patterson, Founder of the The Speak Up Brand, for co-creating the design for this t-shirt with me and helping bring my vision to life! Her unwavering passion for advocating for the inclusion of the disability community is truly inspiring.

Sarah’s dedication comes from a deeply personal place, as she has experienced firsthand the challenges and joys of raising a child with Down syndrome, following her oldest son’s diagnosis in 2016. Through her experiences as a disability mother, her background in teaching, and her love for building community, Sarah is making a real difference in the world.

She is a fierce advocate for change, empowering others to SPEAK UP and encouraging kindness and inclusivity for all. Sarah’s work doesn’t stop there—she is also an RDSP advisor, helping families with special needs create a brighter future for their children.

Please give her a follow and join her on this amazing journey. She is the true definition of an advocate, and I am so lucky to call her my friend. Thank you, Sarah, for everything you do! 💙
