The 12 year old me who came from 🇵🇰 Pakistan, didn’t know yet that her story would matter.
She didn’t know yet that one day she would stand in rooms like this, speaking openly, taking up space, and inviting other women and young girls to do the same!
💜 HAPPY 💜

Standing in a room full of incredible women and sharing my story is something I will carry with me for a long time.
What moved me the most was not just speaking, it was the connection that followed. The women who came up to me afterwards, the conversations, the encouragement, the shared understanding. In those moments I felt something very clear: ✨Alignment✨
And when the room was filled with applause… it was unlike anything I have ever experienced. The clapping of powerful women raised a vibration in that room. It felt like recognition, encouragement, like generations of women standing behind one another and saying “Yes. Keep going.” It was a reminder of what happens when women uplift women, the energy becomes powerful enough to move a room.
It was also incredibly meaningful to share the stage with women who have carried wisdom, resilience, and knowledge through their own journeys. Women like these are the ones who create ripples, ripples that will reach generations to come.
I am deeply grateful to the Soroptimist International of Central Alberta, and Trina Lee Kennedy for giving me this opportunity. Sometimes people see something in us before we fully see it ourselves. Trina saw beyond what is visible on the surface. She saw my gift, and the potential within me to inspire others and for that I am truly thankful. Thank you for sharing this moment with me in person Laura Svab, Rachel Siobhan & my mom Tahira Williams 💖

Meet Rebecca Williams, our next keynote for the IWD Red Talks!

Rebecca is a keynote speaker, a Prevention Education Facilitator with Central Alberta FASD Network, co-author, and dance instructor who works on the front lines of education, raising awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting families through compassionate, trauma-informed approaches.

A devoted mother, Rebecca brings lived experience, empathy, and bold honesty to every stage, inspiring others to rise into their power and reclaim their voice. She arrived in Canada at a very young age and learned early the art of adaptation - navigating a new country, a new culture, and the complexities of building relationships and friendships while finding her sense of belonging.

Rooted in prevention, inclusion, and healing, Rebecca’s work challenges stigma and centres human connection. She believes deeply in the power of community and the impact of sharing our stories, reminding others that resilience is built through courage, compassion, and the willingness to be seen.
