Special weather statement details for our area and holiday travel for Christmas Eve:
An Alberta Clipper is on the way — moving fast, dumping snow, and bringing strong winds.
❄️ What to know:
• This system will hit quickly with heavy snow and windy conditions as it exits.
• Traveling southwest toward Calgary? Leave today if you can — driving Christmas Eve means driving into the storm.
• First snow pockets: Red Deer mid‑morning, Edmonton late morning, Dec. 24.
• St. Paul, Bonnyville and Cold Lake are expected to see storm action mid-morning and into the afternoon.
💨 Wind:
• 20–50 km/h tapering off early Christmas Day.
🌨️ More snow coming:
• Another cell is expected to bring flurries Friday night into Saturday.
• Strong NW winds 30–60 km/h through Saturday afternoon.
• Wind chills dropping to –40s by Sunday morning.
