Fur Dresser – Hide and Pelt Processing

Location of work: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Type of Employment: Full time – Permanent
Job Duties:
● Operate fleshing machine.
● Thickness control.
● Handle various species, such as fox, wolf, bear, beaver, otter, etc.
● Tannery knowledge in chemistry, fur finishing, or experience in skinning.
● Shave duties.
● Notify supervisor or mechanic of equipment malfunctions
● Operate and feed a variety of machines
● Set up, maintain and make minor repairs to machinery
● Push carts, trucks or cans of fibres from one work area to another
● Clean machines and immediate work areas
● Investigate machine stoppages
● Assist machine operators and other textile workers as required
● Examine products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards
● Shave hides to uniform thickness
● Train other workers
● Sharpen circular blades

❇️ Requirements:
-Education: Some secondary school is required.
-Experience: A minimum of 36 months of experience is required. On-the-job training will be provided.
-Must take direction and abide by safety rules
-Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: repetitive tasks, physically demanding, attention to detail,
sitting, standing for extended periods, ability to distinguish colors, large workload, handling heavy
loads, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, combination of sitting, standing, walking,
bending, crouching, kneeling, fast-paced environment.
-Personal Suitability: accurate, judgment, team player, efficient interpersonal skills, reliability,
initiative, organized, dependability.
-Work Site Environment: noisy, dusty
-Weight Handling: up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
-Language: English is required
Wage: $36.00 per hour / around 40 hours per week.

Important Information: Flexibility on schedule is required. Monday - Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
