Switching Gears is honored to sponsor a Christmas Tree in the Park this year. The process of designing the decorations with an emphasis on nature has been a delightful experience. 🔎 You will notice a departure from traditional designs, instead embracing a more organic aesthetic featuring wood and animals. I have made a conscious effort to repurpose, reuse, and recreate materials in order to minimize waste. ♻️

Some of the pieces have a story behind them, which I look forward to sharing with you in the weeks leading up to the Holiday Season. Here is a sneak peek, with the grand reveal taking place at the Brighton Tree Lighting event in Brighton's Memorial park, preceding the Santa Claus Parade. 🎅

I firmly believe in the magic ✨️ of this special time of year. See you all there.

🏠 Main Gate:
Sunday - Thursday: 8am - 8pm
Friday - Saturday: 8am - 10pm

🌲 Lighthouse Interpretive Centre:
Saturdays: 10am - 4pm

🛍️ Park Store CLOSED for the season.
Patches, stickers and some park merchandise available at the main gate.

🐢 Nature Centre CLOSED for the season.

Firewood and ice are available for purchase at the main gate during operating hours.

So each year since Covid we have made a point of taking time off after the crazy lead up to Brighton Applefest (end of September). We usually take the dogs with us when possible and spend the day or part of the day along Lake Ontario but within our own area.

Sometimes we get so busy with life that we forget about the things that are right here in front of us. I have been making a point this year of slowing down and enjoying what is important. Family, Community and Health.

My favorite spot is the Marsh Boardwalk at Presqu'ile Provincial Park but there are other great spaces all within a few minutes of home. Wicklow Beach, Little Lake Beach, Brighton Conservation, Presqu'ile Beach, the Wetlands on 64, Day Use area of Presqu'ile Park and more. All of these offer beaches or marsh walks where I can connect with nature and find a moment of calm for myself.

Soon the Christmas craziness will be in full swing. Here are some photos taken with my phone of "Beach Vacation 2025" (so far).

This Saturday is Applefest 🍎.

To help you revitalize and refocus, I've added three extra timeslots for this Sunday. Take a moment to nurture your well-being and join me at the Head of Trails for the Presqu'ile Provincial Park, Marsh Boardwalk.

We'll connect with nature, cultivating mindfulness and presence through all of our senses. Bring your camera, binoculars, or simply your journal to capture the beauty of the changing marsh colours. A locally handmade journal will be provided.

We'll conclude our gathering at the Presqu'ile Park Place firepit, where you can indulge in a refreshing sweet treat. Choose from Sunday timeslots at Noon, 2pm, or 4pm.
