OPEN HOUSE AT PRESCOTT FIRE DEPARTMENT DRAWS HUNDREDS
By Jon Vickers Marshall
Hundreds of Prescott town residents and area residents got up early and visited the Prescott Fire Department Open House on Saturday October 4.

20 Volunteer Firefighters were on hand along with Chief Renny Rayner and Deputy Chief Paul Arcand and Chief Fire Prevention Officer Brent Norton to answer questions on fire safety, do demonstrations on fire control and car evacuations on site. A BBQ was held with hot dogs, drinks for the townsfolk and colouring books, and plastic fire helmets were given out to children. Kids were allowed to hold a fire hose and put out a small fire box simulation as well, along with going aboard some of the fire trucks that children love to go in and see inside.

Chief Renny Rayner was grateful for the visitors to the firehall and said,” Today its about giving back to the community that has supported us. This Open House allows the citizens of Prescott to see the proud work of our volunteer firefighters do on a daily basis. We had over 200 calls last year to respond too.”

By Jon Vickers Marshall

Edwardsburgh Cardinal Firefighters along with volunteer firefighters from Prescott, Augusta, and South Dundas had a unique opportunity to train on Saturday October 4 and Sunday October 5 at Station 2 firehouse in Spencerville.

The Ontario Fire College came with a live mobile trailer that simulates real life live fire situations for the volunteer firefighters to experience and complete their class 2 certificates they need before the end of 2026.
