Exciting news! 🎉 I’ve just published my micro:bit Coding – Lesson Resource Bank on Teachers Pay Teachers.

This resource includes 11 scaffolded lessons (Grades 3 and up) that bring coding, math, and problem-solving together in meaningful ways. Each lesson is curriculum-aligned, fully supported with teacher slides, student instructions, pseudocode cutouts, planning sheets, and direct micro:bit simulator links.

Whether you’re teaching with physical micro:bits or just the online simulator, this bundle makes it easy to integrate coding into your classroom.

Teaching AI Literacy: From Vision to Classroom Practice

AI isn’t on the horizon anymore — it’s already here. Our students are experimenting with chatbots, image generators, and recommendation systems every day. The real question for educators is: how do we guide them to use AI with purpose, integrity, and critical awareness?

Global frameworks like the OECD and European Commission’s draft, Empowering Learners for the Age of AI, offer a powerful vision. But vision alone doesn’t ease the daily challenge of lesson planning. Teachers need tools they can use tomorrow.

That’s why I created the AI Literacy in Action: A Practical Framework and Planning Tool — designed to bridge global policy with Ontario classroom practice.

Here’s what AI literacy can look like:
-In a Grade 7 Language lesson, students compare AI-generated news with CBC Kids News to spark critical thinking about bias.
-A Grade 4 student uses an AI image generator — then reflects on how to make the work authentically their own.
-A Grade 8 Math class solves problems first, then uses AI to decide when (and when not) to trust the tool.
-A Grade 6 Science group builds a simple “sorting robot” to explore how algorithms and human choices shape outcomes.

These aren’t add-ons. They’re everyday lessons reframed through the lens of AI.
My goal is simple: to give educators confidence, and to give students agency. Together, we can make Ontario classrooms leaders in preparing students to thrive in the age of AI.

🚀 AI in Math Classrooms: Not If, but How

As a new school year begins, many educators may be wondering: How can we guide students to use AI tools—like chatbots—in ways that strengthen their learning?

In my latest blog post, I explore how AI could:
✅ Support purposeful practice
✅ Deepen mathematical discussions and dialogue
✅ Amplify—not replace—the teacher’s role in assessment and instruction

I also share a classroom-ready example you can try right away, and I’d love to hear your feedback if you do!

🚀 Start the new school year with a spark! I’ve developed a 3-part Scratch project series designed for Ontario Grades 7+ math classrooms.

These scaffolded coding activities bring algebraic reasoning, number patterns, and computational thinking to life—while engaging students with interactive challenges and visualizations!!

🎯 Highlights for Teachers:
✅ Aligned to the Ontario math curriculum
✅ Scaffolded difficulty and coding complexity
✅ Perfect for introducing patterning and linear relations in September

🎯 Key Learning for Students:
✅ Visual to symbolic understanding of number patterns.
✅ Scaffolded algebraic reasoning using variables and missing terms.
✅ Strong integration of Ontario Math Curriculum expectations.
✅ Builds confidence in computational thinking via Scratch-based interactivity.
