AI can help us work faster, but it can’t decide what matters.

I’ve just published a new blog post on designing AI-supported assessments that are intentional, valid, and instructionally aligned.

If you’re using AI tools for assessment design (or thinking about it), this piece focuses on the conditions educators must set for quality to emerge.

(Includes a short video overview.)

Exciting news!

I’ve launched a new AI-powered Service Matching Assistant to help educators, school leaders, and district teams not only explore Flipping the Focus' professional learning and consulting services—but also deepen their own understanding of what they need and how to plan for meaningful outcomes.

Whether or not you ultimately choose to work with me, this tool can help you think more clearly about:

- What you’re trying to achieve
- The kind of support that will best enable your goals
- How to frame your needs for planning, proposals, or conversations with colleagues
- What a strong professional learning pathway could look like for your classroom, school, or system

Navigating workshops, coaching, resource design, or system-level strategy can feel overwhelming—so I built a smart, supportive way to get started.

This interactive assistant:

- Asks a few simple, targeted questions
- Helps you clarify your goals
- Recommends 1–3 aligned options from my Essentials, Advanced Suite, or Leadership & Strategy Services catalogs
- Explains why each option is a strong fit
- Provides a polished summary you can paste directly into my contact form
or use internally for your own planning

Whether you’re exploring blended learning, digital literacy, coding, AI, assessment design, or long-term system strategy, the guide is designed to help you find clarity and direction—quickly and confidently.

I’m excited to make the experience of discovering the right support not only smoother and more personalized, but also more empowering for education professionals looking to plan their next steps.

Today, I had the incredible privilege of emceeing a session hosted by Logics Academy and sponsored by Google Canada: "Ctrl+AI: Vibe Coding and the Future of K12 CS" with the inspiring Michael Fricano II.

In this session, we explored how “vibe coding” enables students to generate code through natural language and what that means for teaching and learning in an AI-rich world.

We dug into:
- Practical classroom uses of AI coding tools
- Ethical considerations and responsible use
- How to ensure AI augments rather than replaces student problem-solving
- The evolving role of teachers as designers, guides, and conceptual anchors

It’s an exciting time for K12 education, and I’m grateful to be part of conversations that push our thinking forward while centering student agency, creativity, and critical thinking.

Thank you to Logics Academy, Google Canada, and Michael Fricano II for an energizing and forward-looking experience.

What a great session! I had the pleasure of being the session admin and emcee for Logics Academy 's Microsoft-sponsored workshop on "Navigating and Utilizing Copilot for Educators."

We dug into real, classroom-ready ways Copilot can help with lesson planning, content creation, feedback, collaboration, and even those time-consuming admin tasks. Lots of practical and inspiring ideas!

Thanks to everyone who spent part of their day exploring how AI can support the work we do with students every day 😀

New Release! "Educator Guide — Building Your Own AI Agent in Microsoft Copilot"

What if every educator had their own AI teaching assistant—one that understood their curriculum, their students, and their goals?

My newest resource walks teachers step-by-step through creating their own AI agents inside Microsoft Copilot Studio—no coding required.

Inside, you’ll find:
-Explanations of what AI agents are (and how they differ from chatbots)
-Step-by-step instructions for configuring an agent in Copilot Studio
-A full example: The AI Assessment Design Assistant, based on the AI Assessment Scale (Perkins et al., 2024)
-Prompts, templates, and flowcharts to help educators bring ethical and purposeful AI use into their practice

Whether you’re exploring AI agents for the first time or mentoring others in your district, this guide is a practical entry point into AI-powered teaching and assessment.
