When I first sat down to write ๐‘ช๐’‚๐’ ๐’€๐’๐’– ๐‘ฏ๐’†๐’‚๐’“ ๐’•๐’‰๐’† ๐‘ฏ๐’‚๐’๐’„๐’š๐’๐’๐’” ๐‘บ๐’Š๐’๐’ˆ?, I knew I didn't want to write a simple "baby book." Beneath the rhyming verse, itโ€™s a bittersweet coming-of-age story about the loss of innocence, the dreams weโ€™ve forgotten, and remembering the people who shaped us into who we are today.

Much like The Little Prince, itโ€™s a story you can grow up with, one that shifts in perspective depending on the era of your life you happen to be reading it in. Even though it is dressed up as a children's book, it is absolutely written to pluck at your heartstrings, playing melodies for your inner child. โค๏ธ๐ŸŽถ

Hereโ€™s one way to get creative with red envelope designs while recognizing your non-Asian family name. Iโ€™ve seen ones branded with Chinese last names being sold and thought I can do something similar with my version of a twist. I lucked out that HERNANDEZ is 9 letters, meaning it can stack 3x3 to shape like a Chinese characterโ€ฆ like itโ€™s meant to be ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

My book "Can You Hear the Halcyons Sing?" is now published and available on Amazon and my shop!! ๐Ÿ“”๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ๐Ÿฆโญ๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŽถ www.fishydesignstudio.com

Some of you already know, I've been working on a children's book for the past 2 years and now it's finally time to close this chapter and wrap it up to end off 2022. Written in verse and illustrated by yours truly, it started off as a Pandemic lockdown project of a nostalgic story for self entertainment, but through the encouragement and interests from people around me, it now became something I could decently share with the world. Thank you to everyone who have been following this journey and cheering me on from the sidelines (you know who you are โค๏ธ).

I've documented the entire journey in the making of this storybook on my website where you can see the evolution in my illustrations and all the trial and error I went through to get to where it is now (aka learn from my mistakes lol) - check it out =]
