While we were doing our rounds at , the admin office started "crunching numbers." Bean took notice; to her, "crunching" only means one thing: treats. She leaned in to investigate, but immediately looked suspicious. She realized she was staring into a Teams meeting—but it wasn't her Team Beans. Confused by this digital sorcery, she fixed an intense, professional gaze on the screen, determined to make sure everything was safe and above board.

The staff introduced her to a colleague at another Fraser Health location who had been waiting for a chance to meet her. It turned into the perfect, unscripted moment to share exactly who Bean is—her breed, her 7.5lb stature, and her role as a therapy dog.

Sometimes, the most important work in the hospital isn't the data you see on the screen; it's the calm, quiet presence right beside you.

Anywhere. Anytime. The Therapist is In.

Sometimes, the most important work happens against a stunning city skyline. Other times, it happens in the middle of the bustle, standing guard near a utility truck at a local street party.

At Hats Off Day in North Burnaby, Bean was proud to represent the team. And while you might see a utility truck in the background, I see a layer of protection—a community choosing safety so that we can all gather, play, and breathe freely. It’s a powerful backdrop for a "Puppy Therapy" booth. Just as that truck serves as a physical safety net for the crowd, the therapy teams provide an emotional anchor for those who stop by.

It’s easy to be calm when everything is quiet. It is a different kind of strength to hold that space when the world is noisy, messy, and loud.

Bean’s journey reminds us that you don't need a perfectly curated background to offer support. Whether overlooking the city or nestled in the heart of community safety measures, the goal remains the same: to show up, lean in, and be present.

Optimal Dental Health: Fueling Vitality for Bean 🐾

True health begins with the basics. We recently had Bean in for her annual professional dental cleaning, and the results are clear.

Maintaining oral hygiene is a critical part of our routine to ensure Bean remains in peak condition, as she is currently requested for service almost every day of the week. Because Bean is an active, consistent presence in hospitals and care facilities, her health isn't just about hygiene—it’s about professional readiness. She is constantly showing up for others, and to do that at the high standard she holds, she needs her own vitality to be fully supported. Beyond clean, healthy teeth, this is a necessary step to protect her overall well-being and fuel the "Natural Strength" she brings into every room.

A sincere thank you to David at .ca for your expertise and the precision you brought to Bean’s care.

Top: Before (Ready for a refresh)
Bottom: After (Clean, clear, and back to her biological natural rhythm)

This level of care is our commitment to ensuring she can continue her therapy work at the highest standard. What part of your dog’s health routine do you find most important for their well-being? Let us know below.

There is a unique energy in the strokes of a hand that has lived a lifetime of stories. We spent a wonderful afternoon with our friends at Fellburn Care Centre, and they brought Bean’s world to life in such vibrant, personal ways. 🎨

Some chose the energy of the city, and others chose a quiet, cozy retreat. But in every piece, we see the same thing: a moment shared and a story told through colour. We are so grateful to our Fellburn artists for sharing their time and their vision of Bean with us. Thank you for making our day a little brighter—this is what community looks like. 🐾

If you look closely at these photos, you’ll see that Bean is not exactly 'lapping up' this bath experience. She has that look of quiet concern—the kind that asks, 'Are we really doing this right now, Dad?'—but she trusts the process and the care we take together.

We don’t have a proper space for this at home, so we make our regular pilgrimage to the new Bosley's in Burnaby. It’s a bit of a dance. I’m managing the low heat, the suds, and the logistics, while she’s managing a deep, principled skepticism of the process.

But why the fuss? Because when you’re a therapy dog who visits children, hospital patients, and our friends in assisted living, hygiene isn’t just a routine—it’s a responsibility. This is "The Bean Standard" in action: it isn’t always about joy or perfection. It’s about the quiet, persistent care that ensures Bean is always safe, clean, and ready to offer comfort to those who need it most. She might not love the bath, but she trusts the hands that are doing the washing, and I honor that trust by keeping her prepared for our mission.

It’s a true partnership—a little "Bath Day Agreement" that keeps our team ready to serve.

Does your dog have a "bath-day face" that says exactly what they’re thinking, or are they better at hiding it?

Expanding the portfolio. 🐾

Official confirmation from the Canadian Kennel Club has arrived: Bean is now a certified Canine Good Neighbour (CGN).

From rescue dog to national certification, she continues to prove that Natural Strength comes in small, 7.5lb packages. This isn't just a certificate; it’s a testament to her discipline and her journey as a therapy dog in BC. One more step forward for Team Bean.

Burnaby turned into a snow globe today, and Bean decided to become the centerpiece. ☃️

There is something so striking about the contrast of her jet-black fur covered in these large, heavy white snowflakes. It’s a Black Swan moment in real-time—the kind of visual that stops the scroll and reminds you of the beauty in the unexpected.

Whether you’re a "stay inside with cocoa" person or a "run outside and catch flakes on your tongue" person, there’s a shared brilliance in a fresh snowfall. It’s a natural "Third Space" where the world slows down.

Even a therapy dog needs a day off to have fun in the snow! 🐾 Bean isn't just wearing snowflakes; she’s wearing a reminder that even the busiest days have a way of highlighting our inner light.

No hustle, no rush—just a moment of Natural Strength in the quiet...

There is a specific kind of strength that doesn't bark or boast. It’s found in the quiet, steady heartbeat of a rescue who decided to trust the world again. 🐾

Bean officially received her Pets and Friends therapy bandana today. To most, it’s a simple piece of fabric; to us, it’s a testament to her journey from a 7.5lb rescue to a gentle and soulful participant in her community—the official recognition of the Gold Standard of "Emotional Connectivity." She is the living proof that a dog who once hid from the world is now an active, courageous part of it.

Thank you friends for this honor! 🐾
