Are you ready for the holiday?

🎁 December has arrived and the holiday season is almost here! We’ve got five ideas to help you bring some holiday cheer to your loved ones and your community and support sustainable development at the same time.

1) Send your holiday greetings by e-card instead of paper cards. You’ll help save trees as well as the greenhouse gases caused by transporting the mail.

2) If you do go for paper cards, choose cards printed on recycled paper, or ones that support a charity.

3) Make a reverse advent calendar. Set out a box for you or your kids to put things in periodically that you no longer need that could be useful for others. Then, on December 25, you can donate them.

4) When wrapping your presents, use recycled or reusable wrapping like colourful newspaper or a pretty scarf. You can also reduce waste altogether by hiding the gift unwrapped as part of a treasure hunt.

5) December is also the time for food bank collection. For some families, a grocery hamper could make a huge difference in their month.
Consider giving items or clothing to organizations or people in your community. Things that you’re not using anymore could make a big difference to organizations or individuals who need them.
