Our team had an incredible opportunity to hike out toward Elbow Falls and Redwood Meadows to better understand how water quality in urban, and suburban areas differ and compare. We gathered diverse water samples from rural areas along the Elbow River and contrasted them with the water quality in proximity to Calgary, examining the influence of human activities on water quality.

This experience allowed students to grasp the significance of becoming water stewards in safeguarding one of our planet's most vital resources: freshwater. As contaminants enter our waterways and aquifers, they travel downstream and affect other municipalities, which then must contend with the consequences of our waste.

We used this data to analyze how water quality changes as we near the city, and how fortunate we are to have such an abundance of this precious resource here in Canada. Even in Canada, hundreds of people- especially on First Nations reserves- lack access to safe and clean drinking water.

Mental health continues to be a complex and often misunderstood issue within our society, leading to challenges in youth. Many students, especially those in post-secondary education, navigate these struggles in silence, caused by the stigma and lack of widespread understanding.

That's why we're working to invest in mental health support groups within schools, social-emotional learning (SEL), and personalized learning to tailor individual needs, interests, and strengths.

Last year in 2022, we had an incredible opportunity to explore the importance of mental health, and overall wellbeing within our education system. We worked with students and teachers to develop strategies that can help students cope with stress and explored how stress affects our brain to a psychological level.

Since our campaign at Calvin Industries and CalvinX, we've implemented new programs to help students with stress management and advocated for better mental health representation within our education system. We understand that mental health is health and we want our students to strive to empower with the knowledge and resources they need to foster a healthy balance in their lives. Since then, we've seen changes in our school regimes that better account for mental health representation.

Together, we aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment where students not only excel academically but also thrive emotionally and mentally. We want to continue to work with school boards, school faculty, and school students to hear the thoughts and opinions of what needs to be changed next.

Banning the use of AI technology in classrooms would mean cutting access to one of the most transformative tools of our era. AI software holds significant potential to revolutionize the educational landscape. They can be effective tutors and can free up academic resources.

That's why we're advocating for the implementation of AI technologies within our classrooms. It's not "shameful" to use AI as long as you're doing it responsibly. AI provides support outside of the classroom and can streamline repetitive tasks for all parties.

We're continuing to work with educators to help enforce a workspace that promotes the usage of AI, where AI can be seen as a valuable source of information. We're equipping our next generation with the skills they need to flourish in an increasingly automated society while ensuring that this technology is being used responsibly.

In Canada, the legal age for to***co/vape products is typically 19 years of age. Yet, va**ng is becoming more popular amongst youth, with 1.1% of adolescents aged 12-17 having used ci******es. 59% of students said that obtaining a cigarette if they so desired was "fairly easy".

To protect our students' health and combat the unauthorized distribution of to***co, we're launching initiatives to raise awareness about the risks. Our strategy includes educational programs, enhanced support networks, and collaborative efforts with families and the community.

We will continue to fight for the health, well-being, and prosperity of our students. That's because va**ng presents significant health risks and is not a harmless alternative to conventional smoking. Kids who smoke on school grounds not only expose themselves but expose others.
