Like so many others in the motorsports world, we were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Kyle Loftis.
Kyle was truly foundational to modern drag racing and especially the drag-and-drive community. The impact he had on the sport, the events, the people, and the culture around it is hard to put into words. He inspired countless people to get out, build cars, make passes, hit the road, and become part of something bigger than just racing.
Honestly, he was a huge reason we ever wanted to try a drag-and-drive event in the first place. Watching what he built around the community and the experiences people were having made us want to be part of it too.
One thing that has stood out to us since entering this world is just how incredible the people are. The drag racing community — and especially the drag-and-drive community — is filled with some of the kindest, most genuine, big-hearted people we’ve ever met. People who will hand you tools, help fix your car at midnight, cheer for your success, and support complete strangers without hesitation.
Moments like this are also a reminder that we never truly know what struggles someone may be carrying behind the scenes. No matter how things may look on the outside, everyone is fighting battles we may never see.
If you’re struggling, hurting, overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to — please reach out. Talk to a friend, family member, or someone you trust. And for what it’s worth, our inbox is always open too. We’re always happy to talk about more than cars and racing. Life can be heavy sometimes, and nobody should feel like they have to carry that weight alone.
Rest in peace, Kyle. Thank you for what you built and for the impact you had on this community.
