🥙✨ Arepa: herencia ancestral que une culturas ✨🥙

Antes de que existieran las fronteras, ya existía la arepa. Este delicioso disco de maíz nace en tiempos precolombinos en el norte de Sudamérica, elaborado por pueblos indígenas como los timoto-cuicas (en la actual Venezuela) y los muiscas y zenúes (en lo que hoy es Colombia).

🌽 Aunque hoy en día Venezuela y Colombia la han hecho emblema nacional, la verdad es que la arepa no tiene dueño exclusivo: es patrimonio cultural compartido, una joya gastronómica con raíces profundas en la historia indígena de nuestro continente.

🔥 Asada, frita, horneada o rellena, la arepa ha trascendido el tiempo y las fronteras, siendo símbolo de identidad, resistencia y sabor para millones de latinoamericanos.

💬 ¿Sabías que la palabra “arepa” proviene de “erepa”, que en lengua cumanagoto significa “maíz”?

✨ Graciela Iturbide: orgullo latino y voz visual del mundo.
La fotógrafa mexicana ha sido galardonada con el Premio Princesa de Asturias de las Artes 2025, en reconocimiento a su obra en blanco y negro, que capta con sensibilidad poética la profunda conexión entre las comunidades indígenas y la identidad mexicana.

📌 Durante más de cinco décadas, Iturbide ha explorado las raíces culturales de México —desde los Seri en Sonora hasta el icónico baño de Frida Kahlo— fusionando lo documental con lo onírico y mostrando, según el jurado, “un mundo hipnótico entre realidad y magia espontánea”.

En un mundo saturado de imágenes, su mirada destaca: respetuosa, evocadora y profunda. Un recordatorio del poder de la fotografía para preservar historias y sentimientos universales. 🌎✨

The Mexican photographer has been awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts 2025, in recognition of her work in black and white, which captures with poetic sensitivity the deep connection between indigenous communities and Mexican identity.

¿Sabías que Gabriel García Márquez escribió Cien años de soledad en solo 18 meses… y lo hizo endeudándose hasta para enviar el manuscrito?

El Nobel colombiano vendió su carro, hipotecó su casa y vivió con lo justo mientras escribía su obra maestra. Cuando terminó el manuscrito, no tenía suficiente dinero para enviarlo completo por correo, así que mandó la mitad… y su esposa Mercedes empeñó hasta los últimos electrodomésticos para mandar el resto.

Así nació uno de los libros más importantes de la literatura universal.
Porque cuando el talento y la pasión son más grandes que el miedo, nacen historias que cambian el mundo.

Did you know that Gabriel García Márquez wrote One Hundred Years of Solitude in just 18 months... and he did it even getting into debt to send the manuscript?

The Colombian Nobel sold his car, mortgaged his house and lived with just enough while writing his masterpiece. When he finished the manuscript, he didn’t have enough money to send it completely by mail, so he sent half... and his wife Mercedes plonged to the last appliances to send the rest.

Thus was born one of the most important books in universal literature.

Because when talent and passion are greater than fear, stories are born that change the world.
