• 🥊A Powerful Session with the Ladies at CYOC💨

Today was nothing short of inspiring. A huge thank you to our speaker, Maeghen, for sharing her story of overcoming challenges at a young age and how she found her voice to stand up for survivors.

Using her own experiences, Maeghen is shining a light on the need for safety and protection for women in the martial arts industry—tackling an issue that often goes unspoken. Warriors like her pave the way, empowering women to share their stories and speak their truths, no matter how hard it may be. When others try to silence, voices like hers shine through. Watching the inmates connect with her story was incredible.

The session ended strong with a great workout led by Cait, teaching the importance of boxing as an outlet, followed by goal setting for 2025 to help the ladies focus on their future.

Thank you to the Alberta Solicitor General and all the corrections staff for supporting our program. Together, we’re creating impact and empowering change. 💜

It is with newfound excitement and drive that I announce my new position as the Team Canada President for the WMAC (World Martial Arts Committee). It’s been a long journey to arrive at this place and I feel like the alignment and values between me and this organization are synergistic. As I’ve been proud of the work I’ve done both here in Canada and around the World, I have been looking for a place to continue my journey in the martial arts community with initiatives and culture that matter. I wanted to find like-minded individuals that wanted more opportunities, safety, transparency, growth and progression, as well as fair and high quality competitions in our industry. As I’ve known and worked with many members of the WMAC for years, I’ve found that what we desire for athletes, coaches, studios, events, officials, and for an overall organization is the same. Coming onboard with the WMAC will allow me to continue with fair & safe weight classes being added, code of conduct being elevated, the Global Women’s Initiative being continued, a no tolerance policy for assault, harassment, & inequality, safer protocols for the competitor, high quality officials training and the addition of new and diverse competition divisions & styles. I’m honoured that I was chosen as the representative and will continue to work hard for the sport I love so much, especially with others that feel the same. I’ve always wanted growth, elevation and progression in the martial arts community and now I can put my efforts towards that to the best of my abilities. I look forward to growing Team Canada, working with athletes in our amazing country and creating opportunities to host them on the World Stage. If anyone has questions, would like to be part of WMAC Canada or are interested in the World Games 2024 in the Czech Republic, pls reach me at [email protected]
Let’s Go Team Canada!!!

Martial Arts has been my life for 36 years. Through the years, and the ups & downs, I have achieved everything I had set my heart on achieving. Every goal, ambition, dream and experience. Over the last 7 years, my focus had been on the WKU, the WKU Global Women’s Initiative and Team Canada. I wanted to help the community to have more opportunities, equality, initiatives, resources and positivity.
Taking on the Presidency of WKU Team Canada, I was honoured to bring the National Championships to Calgary and then the World Championships to Canada (Calgary & Tsuut’ina Nation) last October. I’ve met and worked with some incredible martial artists and humans, and have made some amazing lifelong friendships. I’m so grateful for all that came from this journey.
With that being said, I am stepping away from my role with the WKU World. I’m looking forward to future alignments, and challenges that match the direction of my soul and what is next for me. I will still be very much involved in martial arts and this community and I look forward to what waits on the other side. Good luck to Tareq Abu Khadra on his new role as WKU Canada President.
Onwards and Upwards!

Entering into a softer phase of my life ✨✨✨

Less fighting, force and aggression ✨✨✨

Allowing intuition, energy and awareness to be my guide ✨✨✨✨✨

So many life changes in such a short period of time. Everything I’ve ever wanted, built and executed for the last 36 years is now flipped and being done differently. My wants and goals are still the same but I’ve gone back to the heart of the why. And how to get there differently. I was exhausted fighting, proving, and chasing. It was no longer working. It was making me sick in all the ways. I was missing the joy and forgetting about the passion & purpose that drove me in the first place. And now I’m coming back to myself. Who I really am. What I’m meant for. And how to live in softness 💛

Today take that step toward your wildest dreams. The one that you’ve been dreaming about for years but to scared to take that first leap.

I encourage you to take that step even if it’s a small step because if you do, there are absolutely no limits to what you can achieve. It all starts with that first step, that initial spark of determination, and the belief in yourself.
