We opened our first location with (not a dollar) & a dream, and when we got the word the space was being eyed for other reasons, we had to tear down what we could not afford in the first place.
So, we built another studio. At the time of us opening, we called around to other locations that were strictly one genre, inflexible hours, unable to meet modern creative demands, etc., and it felt like us staying down was a disservice to the city that raised us.
This video showcases some moments from our first commercial buildout, the demolishing of the location for supplies retrieval, the demolishing of what stood in our current location pre move - to the final buildout we’re in today.
It feels important, to us, in the arts, to make at times sacrificial decisions in hopes to at a MINIMUM demonstrate that willpower in the creative industry has the ability to overpower societal boundaries as well as to inspire others to KEEP BUILDING.
We put our heads together on this at seventeen years of age. It has been so, so, so many sleepless nights & ramen dinners to get to where we are today. Working on hundreds if not thousands of projects since has been absolutely life changing for us, and has made it all the more worth it.
Never stop creating Calgary. We as a community alone are all we’ve got. We must continue to legitimize our post production industry, fight to make art something we can live off of, and continue to look to eachother for inspiration, advice & support. This city has changed so much since we’ve been open alone. All for the better. We were nervous to even throw hip hop drums on our ads! (had to anyway 🙂↕️)
Thank you to all who have been there for us, believed in Calgary as while, and who continue to support our industry.
