Create your own fun camping adventures with kids and include lots of chores and fun games along the way. They’ll ask to go again and again.

Camp safety maps make kids feel responsible and teaches them a lot. When they feel included in the adventure and have choices then the excitement just keeps building.

It takes a lot longer to get outdoors and setup but it’s so worth them learning survival skills in toddlerhood.

All of my resources are already throughout my blog but a the Kids Who Explore library will be a space for families to feel supported to get outside. It is such an honour to bring these resources to light because I was always told to just wait until they’re older and to stay home.

I’ve had many comments saying that backpacking means hiking many kilometer’s to camp and yes we’ve done a lot of those gruelling trips. Like a lot. When this pregnant and kids in that vulnerable window of not liking certain activities, this is our balance.

It’s not about how far you hike and it never has been. It’s about connecting to nature, learning, and growing together outside.

You make camping whatever you want it to be!

We cannot contain the excitement for baby!

Gone are the days of choosing their backpacking clothing and here are the ones where they pick what they like. At least they are outside with me.

I still have flickers of anxiety after losing our baby last year and I don’t think the grief has changed much for me. Everything fell apart and I’m still gathering the pieces and wondering where they fit.

I’ll forever want to return to this moment.

Bumping and discomfort at this stage 😅 but I love it.

They got all the scented items ✔️

Like a routine now.

2 grizzly and 1 black bear.

Keeping camp clean is the only way to camp in bear territory.

This was cinnamon oatmeal and it tastes so much better outdoors.

Then there’s the youngest that’s been using the camp stove since he was one.

Growth is beautiful but emotional as heck. 🥹

So more outdoor dishes are in our future obviously 😂

And many many more 😅

It’s not really failing, it’s learning as we go. Each season of motherhood is new and more unknowns surface with each adventure.

Although it’s very hard to find the humour in the moment, one day you’ll look back and laugh. I don’t know if any of us have it all figured out.

Not only did everything feel very uncomfortable at first but my balance and core was really off. A few steps on the trail and it was already feeding time for this newborn.

It’s true! We pack so much for our babies and then forget about ourselves. I created a packing list that you can find on my blog for all kinds of adventures with babies and kids in tow. Or visit my library of materials Kids Who Explore to help you.

Such a mixed bag to know how to layer sometimes when exploring in super cold climates but extra layers is always necessary. Babies won’t always communicate that they’re too cold so it’s super important to constantly stop and temperature check. We’ve bailed and gone to many coffee shops instead over the years.

I was making diapers out of clothes. Yes, my sun hoody worked just fine 😅

Wtf is a full body harness and how does it go on? 😂

Not the first time and won’t be the last.

Grizzly dug up our camp and walked along our tent pad for 2.5-3 hours.

Carrying my five year old to a backcountry hut was hard af.

Never trust me when it comes to distance or adventure time okay. 👌

But sunset was so pretty 😅

Sweating either way so I got my workout. 🏋️

What not to do at camp kids 😂

I’ve always been told that my kids are too small and to wait until they’re older but we go anyway.

We’ve done some epic adventures together and it’s not easy but we just try anyway and we learn together. You don’t have to be a pro to bring the kids along. There’s also no rules in how you introduce your kids to things. A lot of times it’s finding comfort in the gear and watching others first. It’s about allowing them to just try and letting them lead.

It makes it all feel worth it when they ask to go again. So I’m thinking we need some more crag meetups with kids in tow ✨ Anyone else interested?

The most requested meals in our camp kitchen:

🍳 Eggs
🥞 Pancakes
🍝 Noodles
🌭 Hot dogs
🌮 Tacos
🥪 Sandwiches
🍿 Popcorn
🍌 Fruit

Everyone helps get meals prepared and it’s been really fun to create them all summer ✨ I always add a little flair of veggies in the mix.

What do your kids request?
