🚨There was a major water main break east of the Sarcee Trail/16 Ave N.W. interchange last night. Expect closures/delays in the area.

🚨AHS, City declare boil water advisory for residents and businesses of Parkdale, Montgomery and Point McKay🚨
The city will provide an update “once we have a better understanding of the impacts and we know more information.”

What started as a routine night on Calgary’s icy roads became a moment no one will ever forget. Hardeep, a four-year Checker Cabs veteran, didn’t know why he had been asked to wait for his customer until he saw a pregnant woman struggling to the cab, assisted by her companion.

There wasn’t time to wait for an ambulance, so with calm hands and steady driving, Hardeep got her to the Peter Lougheed Centre safely, despite the icy conditions. Within two blocks, a beautiful baby girl was born in the back of his Checker.

Hardeep, you are a true hero. From all of us at Checker Cabs, congratulations to the new family and heartfelt thanks for turning a snowy night into a miracle.
