卡加利市政府 City of Calgary 於昨日(星期一)正式啟動了一個耗資820萬元新的科技創新中心Wave Tech Center。

市政府表示，Wave Tech Center 位於市中心Andrew Davison大樓翻修過的底層空間，將允許各個市政府部門和當地企業將技術融入到如何更好或更便宜地提供公共服務。市政府指，迄今為止，該科技中心已投資400萬元，其餘成本預計將在2026年完成。Wave Tech Center 的合作夥伴包括卡城大學、Platform Calgary、Denvr Data works 等。

此外，聯邦政府透過加拿大草原經濟發展部為中心提供總計310萬元的資金，而市政府則為該技術中心的300萬元建設提供全數資金。

中心包括可以創建輪椅坡道等物件的3D打印機，以及可以使用現有市政府空間模型來開發新想法的虛擬實境沉浸室。市政府表示，用戶還可以使用其他新興技術，如人工智能（AI）、量子基礎設施、物聯網、雲端運算和其他軟件。

市政府首席資訊科技官員Jan Bradley表示，希望該中心能夠幫助推動節省時間或金錢的新方法。市長Jyoti Gondek則表示，該中心將為希望與市政府開展業務的企業提供新的機會。
