A beautiful evening:
For me, this was more than just another community meeting.
I have had the privilege of knowing Mr. Abdus Shakoor, President of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan International Relief , and Syed Ehsanullah Waqas, Vice President of Alkhidmat, for well over three decades. Meeting them again here in Calgary and listening to a detailed briefing on Alkhidmat’s ongoing humanitarian work was both heartwarming and inspiring.
What impressed me most was not merely the scale of their operations, but the consistency of their commitment. From supporting orphaned children and widows, to providing healthcare, education, clean drinking water, disaster relief, ambulances, hospitals, schools, Bano Qabil (بنو قابل), and interest-free financial assistance, Alkhidmat has become one of the most impactful welfare organizations serving humanity across Pakistan and beyond.
Behind the statistics are millions of lives touched, countless families restored to dignity, and communities given hope during their darkest moments.
In a world where trust is increasingly rare, institutions that have spent decades building credibility through service deserve our attention and support. Alkhidmat’s work during natural disasters, humanitarian emergencies, healthcare crises, and poverty alleviation efforts has earned the respect of people from all walks of life.
I was particularly pleased to learn that Alkhidmat is now planning to expand its reach in Canada, including Calgary. This presents an important opportunity for our community to become part of a global effort dedicated to serving humanity without regard to race, ethnicity, or background.
I would encourage members of our local community to learn more about Alkhidmat’s initiatives, engage with their volunteers, and support their mission in whatever way they can. Whether through donations, volunteer work, professional expertise, or simply spreading awareness, every contribution can help transform lives.
Humanity flourishes when compassion is organized. Alkhidmat is a powerful example of what can be achieved when dedicated people commit themselves to serving others.
May their efforts continue to grow, and may we all play a small part in supporting those who are working tirelessly to bring hope where it is needed most.
Special thanks to Tahir Alwi Bhai and Bilal Siddiqui Bhai.
