There’s a career tax nobody talks about.

Being underestimated.

And sometimes, without realizing it, we help people underestimate us.

We solve the problem and say nothing.

We take on more responsibility but keep the same title.

We become the person everyone relies on, but never explain the level at which we’re actually operating.

Then one day, someone with half the context and twice the confidence gets the opportunity.

And we’re shocked.

But careers are not built only on what you can do.

They’re also built on what people believe you can do next.

That distinction matters.

Because if people only see you as dependable, they’ll keep giving you things to deliver.

If they see you as capable of more, they start giving you things to lead.

So maybe the question isn’t:

“Am I doing enough?”

Maybe it’s:

“What has my work taught people to believe about me?”

That answer might explain more about your career than you think.

🔥 Being reliable can get you respected at work. But playing it too safe can get you overlooked.

We’ve all heard it:

“Underpromise and overdeliver.”

Good advice… until underpromising becomes your entire career strategy.

You stop volunteering for the stretch project because you’re not 100% sure you can nail it.

You stay quiet in the meeting because you don’t want to say the wrong thing.

You keep choosing the work you already know you can do well.

And slowly, something happens.

People see you as reliable… but not necessarily ready for more.

That’s the trap.

Sometimes career growth requires making a promise that makes your stomach flip just a little.

Not reckless.
Not pretending you know what you don’t know.

Just saying:

“I haven’t done this before, but I believe I can figure it out.”

Because you don’t build a bigger career by constantly proving you can handle the level you’re already at.

Sometimes you have to show people you’re ready for the next one.

So here’s your challenge this week:

👉 Say yes to one opportunity that scares you slightly.

Then go prove to yourself that you can carry it.

What’s one thing you’ve been playing a little too safe with at work? 👇

Some of the best jobs are NEVER advertised.

Someone simply says your name in the right room. 👀

“Talk to Ola.”
“She’d be great for this.”
“I know someone.”

That’s how a lot of opportunities actually start.

And that’s why I’ll keep saying this:

Your network is your net worth.

Not because you need to “know important people.”

But because your career becomes very different when people know your work, trust your name, and remember you when an opportunity comes up.

The mistake?

Waiting until you need a job to start networking.

Build relationships when you need NOTHING.

Check in.
Celebrate people.
Share opportunities.
Help when you can.
Stay connected.
Do work worth remembering.

Because your next opportunity might already be sitting inside someone else’s memory of you.

Not your CV.

Not your application.

Your name.

Now think of one person you’ve been meaning to reconnect with.

Send the message this week. 👇🏾

You could be doing EVERYTHING right at work… and still be getting your career wrong. 👀

Read that again.

You can be excellent at your job. Reliable. Respected. The person everyone comes to when something needs to get done.

And still wake up 3 years from now realizing you became incredibly good at a version of work that has changed.

Because being good at your job and preparing for your future career are NOT the same thing.

Your job asks: How well can you perform today?

Your career asks: What are you building for tomorrow?

What’s changing in your profession?

Which skills are becoming more valuable?

What are people outside your company already talking about?

What could AI, technology or new ways of working completely change about what you do?

Sometimes career growth requires you to stop looking down at your to-do list and look UP at where your profession is going.

Don’t just become better at your job.

Become ready for what comes after it.

Now I’m curious: What skill are you building today that you think will matter even MORE in 5 years? 👇

Another day, another Random Career Thought. 🎯

08/30/2026

This is not just motivation. I need you to hear this.

You may NEVER feel ready.

Ready for the promotion.
Ready for the bigger opportunity.
Ready to speak up.
Ready to make that career move.

And if you keep waiting for confidence to arrive first, you could wait yourself out of opportunities you were perfectly capable of handling.

Because confidence usually comes AFTER the move.

You apply nervous.
You speak up unsure.
You take the opportunity wondering, “Can I actually do this?”

Then you do it.

And something changes.

You realize you were more capable than your fear allowed you to believe.

The people moving ahead aren’t always fearless.

🔥 Sometimes they just move scared.

So stop asking:

“Am I ready?”

Ask:

“What if I’m ready enough to start?”

That one hits differently.

What are you waiting to feel ready for? 👇

08/29/2026

What if you don’t fail?

Imposter syndrome has a way of convincing you that you’re not ready, not qualified, or simply not good enough.

But running from the challenge doesn’t build confidence. Facing it does.

Know yourself. Believe in what you bring. And when self doubt gets loud, remember: you don’t have to feel completely confident before you move.

Sometimes courage is simply saying, “I’d rather try and fail than run away wondering what could have happened.”

So the next time your mind asks, “What if I fail?”

Ask it right back: What if I don’t? 👀

08/28/2026

Everyone is asking: What will AI replace?

But maybe the smarter career question is:

What should you never let AI replace? 👀

Let AI take the busywork.

First drafts.
Summaries.
Research.
Cleanup.
Repetitive tasks.

Use it to buy back your time.

But your judgment?
Your ability to navigate a hard conversation?
Read the room?
Build trust?
Know when something just doesn’t feel right?

That’s different.

Those are the human skills that shape your reputation, influence, and career.

The people who thrive with AI won’t necessarily be the ones who use it for everything.

They’ll be the ones who know where AI should stop and they should start.

So here’s the question:

👇 What’s one part of your work you would NEVER fully hand over to AI?

08/24/2026

Here’s the truth nobody tells you: you will never feel fully ready.

Not for the promotion.
Not for the stretch opportunity.
Not for the bold ask.
Not for the next big career move.

Because confidence doesn’t come before you act. It comes because you acted.

The people moving forward aren’t fearless. They’ve just stopped waiting for fear to disappear.

They apply before they meet every requirement.
They raise their hand before they have all the answers.
They speak up even when they’re nervous.
They take the opportunity and figure some of it out along the way.

Sometimes, waiting until you’re “ready” is just fear wearing a very professional outfit. 😅

Your career won’t pause while you wait to feel worthy of the next step.

So make the move. Send the application. Ask the question. Put your name forward.

You don’t become ready and then act. Sometimes, you act and become ready.

What’s one thing you’ve been putting off because you don’t feel ready yet? 👇

08/23/2026

Everyone is worried AI will replace them.

But I think there’s a better question:

What are you building that AI can’t replace?

AI is brilliant at output. It can draft, summarize, analyze, and produce faster than most of us.

But output was never your greatest value at work.

Judgment is.

Knowing which problem actually matters.

Reading the room before you speak.

Knowing when the data says one thing, but experience tells you to look deeper.

Building enough trust that people bring you the difficult conversations and the decisions that don’t have obvious answers.

And developing the kind of taste that tells you when something can be technically correct and still not be right.

Those things are built through experience. Through mistakes. Through relationships. Through paying attention.

So maybe the goal isn’t to compete with AI on the things it does best.

Let AI help with the output.

Then invest even more deeply in your judgment, trust, relationships, and ability to make sense of complexity.

Because as AI becomes more capable, I think those human capabilities become more valuable, not less.

What’s one decision you made at work this week that required more than just information?
