I wrote a short blog post about a VR world called Vivarium that recently shut down.
What surprised me was not that I felt sad about it, but that the sadness felt similar to losing a real place.
I used to check in almost every evening, feed the creatures, arrange plants, change the music, take photographs. Over time it stopped feeling like software and became part of my routine.
One day it simply stopped loading.
The piece is really about ritual, digital impermanence, and what happens when emotionally meaningful virtual spaces disappear because they are no longer financially sustainable.
