The manosphere loves to say, “Courts always give the kids to the mother.” But custody statistics need context. Many parenting arrangements are reached without a judge choosing between two parents, and fathers don’t always seek primary or equal parenting time in the first place.

So pointing to the fact that children more often live primarily with their mothers doesn’t, by itself, prove that family courts are biased against fathers.

Context matters especially when statistics are being used to fuel resentment between men and women.

The manosphere isn’t just talking to grown men, it’s targeting young boys, too. Memes, humour, gaming culture and social media make these ideas feel harmless and relatable, slowly normalizing misogyny before kids even realize what they’re being exposed to. We need to be paying attention. 👀

MGTOW may speak to men who feel disillusioned, lonely, or frustrated with changing gender expectations, but walking away from relationships shouldn’t require blaming or dehumanizing women. Men deserve support, community, and honest conversations about their struggles without turning women into the enemy.

Every year, I go for my cancer checkup and every year, the anxiety comes with me.

There’s no amount of “just stay positive” that makes that fear disappear.

After cancer, I’ve had to learn something much harder than positivity, how to live with uncertainty, how to accept that I don’t control everything, and, in a very real way, how to become okay with my own mortality.

That doesn’t mean I’m giving up or expecting the worst. It means I’m allowing myself to acknowledge the fear instead of pretending it isn’t there.

Sometimes the healthiest response isn’t “think positive.”

Sometimes it’s: This is scary, I’m scared and I’m going to live my life anyway.

Patriarchy loves a pleasant woman.

Smile, be agreeable, don’t make anyone uncomfortable, don’t be angry or complain and whatever you do, don’t make a scene.

Toxic positivity can be another way women are taught to swallow perfectly reasonable anger, grief and frustration and package it into something more comfortable for everyone else.

But not every situation needs a silver lining.
Sometimes anger is appropriate, and sadness deserves space.

Women don’t owe the world pleasantness. 🔥
