After 14 years of silence, cult techno label Secret Weapon Records returns, revived by the team behind Get
Physical Music. The relaunch begins with a remastered edition of “The Conception EP” by The Diamond Dogs,
originally released in 2002 and long considered a standout in the label’s early catalogue.
Founded by Canadian DJ and producer Mark Quail in the early 2000s, Secret Weapon Records carved out its
place in the underground with a sound that was raw, hypnotic, and deeply rooted in the grit of Southwestern
Ontario. The label embraced techno as both art and science, designed for dancefloors, but built to alter
perception. Now, with a new generation of listeners in mind, the label reemerges with the same mission: to
keep the underground alive.
The Conception EP marked a collaboration between Quail and Himadri Ghosh, the classically trained techno
producer known for his pioneering work as one half of Teste. Himadri’s minimalist precision meets Quail’s
driving rhythms in two tracks that remain strikingly fresh. The remaster brings clarity to the detail while
preserving the original edge.
